AR-10 24" 6.5 CM Barrel Profile

Re: AR-10 24" 6.5 CM Barrel Profile

I am a bit of a masochist when it comes to weight but I like them heavy. I have a heavy bull profile barrel in my ar-10 chambered in 6.5 creedmoor whatever the basic criterion profile is.

Re: AR-10 24" 6.5 CM Barrel Profile

great choice of caliber, the profile all depends on what kind of shooting you want to do.
for 3 gun matches i'd go pretty light with a good brake
for long ronge precision matches i'd go with a med/heavy and for fun out in the mountains a good heavy barrel.
I have a noveske 24" 308 barrel, it is a beast and a tack driver. I only carry it from the car to the matt though.
let us know how it turns out.

You'll have less than 22" of pipe with a 24" blank...

choose your gas block/state your purpose and go from there. If I
was going shorter than 24", I'd stay with .308WIN Match.

24-26" finished pipe: 1.25" to journal, .875-.936" at journal, then .900 to crown.

Thanks for the input so far.

So, I'm planning on a 24" finished length, which I will account for when ordering my blank.

As for the profile, my intent is to mainly use it as a target rifle, however I will likely do some hunting with it. I was thinking that a profile similar to the M110 or Mk-11 would be appropriate, but in a longer length obviously. I carried a MK-11, and did not mind the weight of that weapon.

DavidAR10, could you explain the dimensions that you gave, I am not that familiar with barrel nomenclature. This is the first custom barrel that I am having made, so I am a little green.

Thank You,
