Maggie’s 3 AD's At Gun Shows In One Day

Re: 3 AD's At Gun Shows In One Day

This shit happens all the time. Its only now being pushed into front page media so the left can push their agenda...

Re: 3 AD's At Gun Shows In One Day

I was at a gun show in Raleigh, NC around the time of the first AW ban. There were 2 AD's in the hall within minutes of each others and police arrested a guy who was 'loading' guns on the tables in order to create... discharges. Rumor (never found out for sure) was that he was an activist trying to create exactly the kind of incident mentioned above. Bullets had been placed in at least a dozen guns.

An AD at a gun show definitely gets your attention. To think someone would deliberately load guns is just sick. But some folks will do anything -- even risk or sacrifice lives -- to get what they want.

BTW, at the Raleigh show, one person was injured by bullet fragments coming off the floor. But both AD's happened with guns that were pointed away from people.

Check chambers folks... check chambers! Those Ten Commandments we all learned as kids still apply!

Cheers,

Sirhr

Re: 3 AD's At Gun Shows In One Day

The local gun shows here require the local LEO to safety inspect and ziptie immobilize (no paperwork, no ID required) all firearms for sale when they come through thedoor. Zipties are cheap, and they don't affect the seller's (tableowner's) ability to remove one temporarily for customer inspection then reinstall upon conclusion.

Re: 3 AD's At Gun Shows In One Day

I was at the Medina Ohio gun show today, but left just before it happened. LEOs were at the doors putting zip ties on all guns. Not sure how this happened.....

This, I have gone to this show many times over the years and they always inspect and put zip-ties in all actions. I don't know how this happened unless someone concealed it to get it into the building and then pulled it out.

They were also counting people coming in and only let so many at one time...so it should of been better than normal. Something does not add up here...

Storing it loaded + not checking the chamber + having off safe + having finger on trigger = dumbass.

ABSOLUTELY, gun going off at a gun show has to be more rare than winning the lottery. 3 in the same day, on the same day that has been chosen to march on the state capitols for pro-gun rallies. You can bet your ass if you are willing to die for something there is someone else wiling to do so for the opposite reason.

Re: 3 AD's At Gun Shows In One Day

Yeah, I'm sure this shit happens WAYYYYYY more than we usually hear about. It's just that now news organizations are looking out for these incidents to publish and show how irresponsible gun owners are.

Two important items here:

1. There is no such thing as an AD or "accidental discharge". Any shot that occurs that was not intended is a negligent discharge (NDs). Recognizing negligence and providing corrective training is critical, especially since we're being watched so much now.

2. We need to be more circumspect with the leeway we give people. When we see people being unsafe, we need to correct that idiocy immediately. Those idiots who have NDs make us all look stupid. Let's no longer let them make headlines.

Re: 3 AD's At Gun Shows In One Day

^^^^^ This!!!! I'm tired of dumbasses causing grief. It is the guy bringing the gun in responsiblity to ensure it was unloaded. (In my mind criminal negligence)

Re: 3 AD's At Gun Shows In One Day

accidental shootings? who the heck is allowing people to put ammo in the guns?

Re: 3 AD's At Gun Shows In One Day

Went to my local show yesterday, had 3 different duded wandering around with pistols in hand, finger on trigger, waving them as they walked, muzzling the shit out of the lines that I said something to. Then while I was sitting for a second, mommy's basement dweller, in somebody else's tricolor woodlands walks past with AR slung level over shoulder, hand on pistol grip, finger on trigger. As he walks past I tell him straight up or straight down and put his hand elsewhere, looks at me and starts to listen and sits down 5 chairs away. Sitting down, hasn't moved a damned thing, so when I get up I walk over, lean down right next to his head and whisper get your nasty little booger hook of the bang button and get your muzzle down or I will personally pistol whip you.

He complied

My thoughts also..
The war on drugs did not work.
Maybe they think this will.

Re: 3 AD's At Gun Shows In One Day

I alway get some civilian that muzzle sweeps me no matter where I go. Gun store, gun show, etc. on the second sweep I give a "WHOA!" and step out of the way. 40% of the time their finger is in the trigger guard. Every now and then I get some punk green-horn telling me to "chill" (thats probably sweeped me 4x now).
My thanks to the shop owners and booth operaters who show concern & patience enough to TAKE AWAY the gun and EDUCATE people.
(ive never felt bad for wearing concealable body armor to a gun show or a public range)

Re: 3 AD's At Gun Shows In One Day

I suspect a big part of the problem are people who have no real knowledge of firearms, other than with everything going on right now it seems a good time to buy/sell. A little like trying to sell a car to someone who hasn't driven one, and hoping the test drive goes well.

Re: 3 AD's At Gun Shows In One Day

I doubt it would make a difference but i would like to see the ammo sold in a different part of building or something. If you were raised around guns as I was they are all loaded even if they are not. It drives me crazy to see these new guys rolling the cylinders, jacking the actions, dry fire, scope searching and all that crap. the best thing to do is be kind and say would you mind not doing that. Educate the innocent is the best answer. Could you imagine if there was a rush of chain saw purchases? Man goes wild on crowd with a stihl farm boss. Hope I did not plant a seed.

Re: 3 AD's At Gun Shows In One Day

Hell, when I was 15, my buddies would come over to look at my new .22 rifle, and start sweeping the room with it. I told them don't ever point a gun at someone who doesn't need killing. They would say, hey you told me it was empty...we need gun safety training in schools, dammit!!! Good luck on that idea, right? The same idiots that write our gun laws, now, probably.

Re: 3 AD's At Gun Shows In One Day

I walked into a Saxet Gun Show in San Antonio several years ago. They had a teenager checking guns at the door but not zip-tying them. There was a table of Makarovs (junk table) right by the door. A guy picked one up, pulled the trigger, it went bang. He didn't clear it, and none of the pistols on the table were zipped. The bullet struck the cement floor, bounced and struck a customer who had just cleared the door. He was hit in the right groin, a serious wound, since that area has a major blood vessel supplying the leg. I and another medic rendered aid until the paramedics came and got him.
Not good.

Re: 3 AD's At Gun Shows In One Day

I remember my first AD encounter at a gun show in 1965.
After the discharge things got quiet real quick, the silence
was as erie as the AD.
I remember the person who pulled the trigger, was escorted
immediately and quite roughly outside. Also the vendor who
had the firearm on the vendor table and his wares seemed to
disappear post haste.
