Figured a new thread to discuss the new stuff coming out from SHOT 2013 was in order.

Post any pics or news you've heard coming from Vegas.

Thanks

Re: New Optics from SHOT 2013

Here is what I saw...

Nightforce delivered on the Beast, I was really happy with what I saw and I cannot wait to get mine... the ATACR was a big hit too. Lots people were buzzing over that, the booth was 5 deep all week.

USO, won the 1-8x wars, it's the best 1-8x on the market to date.

Hensoldt, their 3.5-26x was pretty kick ass... and their Zeiss line was a nice little scope for people

S&Bs, yawn all away around... not to mention the stupid $6k price tags.

Kahles added a MSR type reticle, and made an improvement to their glass in the K624, their 1-6x was a huge hit. It was a constant 3GUN Shooter parade at their booth.

Bushnell released the spotters, the new 1 mile lasers are an improvement on the Arc 1600 line. They got rid of the blue tint, and improved the view, it look much nicer. They changed the display a bit so the blue was not longer needed to provide contract.

The new HDMR added 30 degrees of focus rotation, a zero stop and 10 mils per turn...

Other than that, is a lot of the same stuff from either last year or earlier this year. But then again, I did drink so I could be forgetting something.

Re: New Optics from SHOT 2013

What was the price tag on the Henny 26x LL?

Re: New Optics from SHOT 2013

Not to mention, Lowlight gets the best dressed award for the 9th year in a row. Even when he was casual, like today, he was sporting a vest and beanie cap that would make any GQ fan proud.

The norm is a full dress suit, though. He needs a nickname, like "Franco Suave'

Re: New Optics from SHOT 2013

LOL thanks Scott,

P123 I forgot to ask, by the time I was there and able to talk to someone, it was today when I was getting ready to leave.

They were really busy all week, the whole show I felt was packed everywhere I wanted too go.

Re: New Optics from SHOT 2013

How in the hell did kahles make the glass better in that scope!?! God damn voodoo magic!

Bahahahha ya they can kiss my ass. Your right Lowlight.....the Beast is the best optic on the market. S&B and Henny have lost their god damn minds.

Are you speaking on the newer 3.5-21x Elite's? I was very much hoping they'd fix the 2 glaring misses on the first versions, although i am a huge fan of the reticle.

Re: New Optics from SHOT 2013

Hey Scott/Lowlight:

Can you speak on the 3.5-21x50 ERS (zero stop/10 mils) and the 1-8.5 Bushnell's and the impressions you got if you happened to look through both?

I absolutely loved their last offerings with the 1-6.5x and EBR reticles plus the G2's on the 3.5-21's. Bushnell has really stepped up their game the past few years and i've been nothing short of blown away given they're coming in anywhere from 1k to 1.5k.

In what sense USO is better than e.g. S&B 1-8?

Besides the fact it actually exists?

Re: New Optics from SHOT 2013

BEAST vs Heny 3.5-26 , YEAP , as they are both around the same price for me in New Zealand , my vote goes to the Heny .

And yeap , 6k BS price from S&B , they can piss off .

Later Chris

Or the Leupold Mk 8 CQBSS ?

Irrespective of price?

I think many people are interested.

Re: New Optics from SHOT 2013

The Bushnell's continue their evolution.

We will carry the 3.5-21x50 with 10mil turrets and zero stop, in flat dark earth and black, as well as the original 5mil turret non-ZS model. Adding the ZS and 10mil turrets adds $550 to the original HDMR, +$50 for the FDE model.

The 4.5-30x50 was very good. Unlike the original 4.5-30x50 elite 6500, the glass handled the 30x magnification much better than I thought it would. Price is +$700 over the original 3.5-21x50 HDMR. Black only for us.

I thought the 1-8.5x was excellent, and it's debut has been under-reported, IMO. It had a new fiery orange daylight bright illumination, lo-profile mil exposed knobs and BTR-2 mil FFP reticle.

Price is the downside...the same price as the 4.5-30x!

Scott

Re: New Optics from SHOT 2013

Anybody who fondled a leupold mark 8 have an opinion???

Re: New Optics from SHOT 2013

The USO was actually independently tested and is a true one power, many claim to be but are not. Also it was determined to be the highest light transmitting scope of it's kind and they have tested them all. It also comes in three flavors the S the M and the C version. Great FOV and travel and although you said it not a criteria it is the least expensive of all the competition.....oh and not that it's important but it's made by a very special people in a very special place........AMERICAN's in AMERICA.

LMAO, On Tuesday when I saw him at the AI booth I thought he was some kind big celebrity! I think he might be in contention for "The most interesting man in the world"

Lol. I nearly stepped on him once texting while walking. If it wasn't for that shiny dome it would have been a bad day.

Considering features and quality only, not price, can you specify what truly distinguishes the US Optics 1-8x27mm CDMIL over the Leupold Mark 8 1.1-8x24 Horus H27D?

Having not been able to examine either, all I have are a few distinguishing specs scattered on the internet:
USO has capped turrets, Leupold does not;
USO illumination controls are push-button, Leupold uses one rotating knob; and
USO illuminates crosshairs, Leupold illuminates a circle dot.

Addendum: More recent pix show that the USO also has an illuminated circle.

dont forget the kahles. at 3k there a bargain compared to the rest.

Re: New Optics from SHOT 2013

Ya, Kahles is definitely a player now, the 3GUN guys were all over the 1-6x and they are working to improve the K624i, adding reticles etc.

Interesting conversation we were having with Eduardo Abril De Fontcuberta who released his book on Sniping Drills (includes the SH Dot Drill), because the Parallax is on top under the elevation he was talking to Kahles about putting the windage on the left side for support hand use.

When you think about it, it's the smart way to operate, you have the illumination, move that the right, and the windage left, the scope would be similar to what USO did, but now in a European variety.

The new MSR Type reticle was good for guys who want to range with that .1 scale, next step is to get them to increase the illumination amount to more points.

Re: New Optics from SHOT 2013

LL
ill be interested to see your view of k624i vs beast once you get one. i know you have a couple kahles now and from what i have read, you really like them.

Re: New Optics from SHOT 2013

What do folks think about March? Ive been super impressed the few times i've been behind one out on the ranges. The turrets, glass and mag range is all elite.

Were they at shot by any chance?

Re: New Optics from SHOT 2013

Well that is pretty easy it is gonna come down to whether or not you like the turret set up on the NF.

They have added some features for sure, fully illuminated reticle, green or red, NV capable settings. It's still 3/4" shorter than the S&B, and has the same 34mm tube, so it's all about the turrets.

Do you want the locks, brakes, lever... or not.

Re: New Optics from SHOT 2013

Did kahles say anything about doing reticle swaps in the future, and if so a price on it?

yes, i cant remember if they are doing it already or will be doing it. the price was reasonable if i remember like 300ish.

Re: New Optics from SHOT 2013

Anybody get a picture of the new Kahles 624 reticle?

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: springer01</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Any idea on price on the new Bushnell Spotter? </div></div>

Same here. I'm in the market for a spotter and would like to have an idea of the cost on one with reticle but minus the rails if that's an option. Also, when are they supposed to be available.

Scott, are you going to be stocking the new spotters?

Re: New Optics from SHOT 2013

what about a retrofit of the 10 mil knobs and zero stops on existing 3.5-21 HDMRS? anyone ask that.

Dustin

Did the glass in the 4.5-30 appear to be the same as the original HDMR or did you notice/hear about any difference?
Curious about the 1-8.5 as well... Optically was it similar or better than the current 1-6.5 SMRS?

Im glad to see they've taken that mag range to the next level. I wish they would consider doing similar to the 2.5-16 or with new mag range if its a possibility
2-17x/1.75-14x/1.5-12x. it might be a bit over kill since they've covered so much range with the 3.5-21. I think if they did a 2x or below in a similar compact with the nicer glass, turrets and reticle choices it would do well as long as they slightly lowered the bottom end to differentiate from the HMDR.
