I am new to reloading and long range shooting. I have a 308 with a 24" Rock Creek barrel. I have been doing some load work and shooting all loads over my chrony F 1. I have made loads from 44, 44.2, 44.4, 44.6 with reloader 15 and they all are coming in around 2720. Their isn't really any difference in speed at all between any of the loads Is this normal? The chrony is new and so am I do you think I am doing some thing wrong? Thanks for any help.

Re: What's wrong?

What is the correct distance it should be set. I had it about 3 feet a way. Thank you

+1 you need to be at least 10 feet away with a conventional chronograph.

Re: What's wrong?

I have been way to close. I just hope I don't shoot it now. Thanks very much for your time and I will correct the problem.

Re: What's wrong?

Be aware that even at 10 ft, you may still register muzzle blast. Before I got my MagnetoSpeed chrono, I got the best results at about 15 ft.

Re: What's wrong?

When I used a chrono in the past, I always put one around 10 yards away...just adjusted for trajectory. I don't chrono anymore, just pressure and accuracy test.

.2grn at a time? have you found the node for your gun?

Re: What's wrong?

I have the f1 w/ remote LCD read out, there's not enough cable to get much more than 10 ft. Guess you could make your own longer if you wanted but I've never had any trouble @ 10 ft. I have found that I rarely have any mis read when the bullet crosses closer to the unit and not high in the screens, just don't get too close. :)
