I have a AX chassis laying around with nothing in it, it's the SA version.

I also have a Rem 700 AAC in 300 BLKOUT that's in the factory Hogue stock.

So I figured, hell why not combine them. But I'm stumped on which mags I need, so this is what I THINK I know (read as I may have this wrong).

1. 300 BLKOUT needs to run in a 223 mag
2. The AI polymer mags won't work in the AX chassis

Assuming 1&2 are correct, which mags can I use for this combination?

Thanks

I don't think #2 is correct, the AX mag has that tang on the front but normal AICS mags work in the chassis too. I think i read on here that AW mags work in the AX also if the action is set up for it. Iput a 223 mag in mine just to see if it would work and it looks like it will. I had a 308 action so I didn't try to load a round but the didn't fall out or anything. I would try it if you have both sitting there, afterall it only takes a little time to screw it together.

The only reason I thought it was true is that all the polymer AICS 223 mags I see for sale from online dealers has a large note at the bottom of the ad saying "Does not fit the AX chassis".

I guess it only cost me $40 to really find out.

Thanks

I think you will be just fine, if it doesn't work I'll buy the mag from you.

I can't lose with that offer. Now the challenge is finding a mag. Found them at Triad.

Thanks for your help and offer.
