I'll be firing my LMT MWS (.308) with 5-25 PMII for the first time this Sunday.

The scope is on the setting as it arrived from Mile High +/- 11 mils. The scope elevates free from 0 through the double turn to the high setting.

Anyone have a ballpark elevation I should dial for my first shot at 25 yards just to get on paper? My ammo is a 168 Nosler 168 CC, loaded with Varget at approx 2600 fps.

The scope is mounted in a Spuhr with 20 mils of cant. The rifle has a flat top mono rail.

Just looking for a ballpark from someone familiar with this scope on an AR10.

Hoping to avoid anything unsafely low/high and once on paper at 25 Ill feel its safe to move along to longer ranges.

Hinge the upper open or remove the upper, pull the BCG, boresight the target, adjust the scope to match, and you should be within 2 inches or so of your point of aim at 25Y.

I just boresighted a 5-25 PMII on Sunday morning at 50Y and the first shot was within 2.5" of where I wanted it to go.

Leave it where it came and shoot at a large piece of paper at 25 yards.

    Nailed it.

I was considering bore sighting but Sunday is supposed to be 26 degrees and my pussy cold tendencies lead me to believe I wont be breaking the rifle down and freezing my fingers up.

I'll be miserable as is but I've been waiting 9 months to fire this rifle and Sunday is my first chance. I hope to get in/get out.

I just took a look at my clubs 25 yard range I didnt realize it has a close, high berm. If my piece of paper is not as big as Rob expects I should be able to mil the splash from the present setting.

I bore sight my systems in the back yard against the back fence, which is ~ 22yds. I'm always within 2". I've done it on a PS90 and multiple ARs and bolt guns. Bore sighting saves ammo, which is paramount in these times.

Pick a aiming spot in the middle of the berm. Shoot at it. Measure with your reticle from the point you aimed to the splash in the dirt and adjust. Works every time.

If you are 10 mils off it will be about 9" at 25 yards so you aren't going to be that far. A large target about 20"x20" will work fine. It's simple. Don't stress it.

I bore sight from my kitchen table at a tennis ball in the backyard.

Lots of good info here taking away the mystery.

I have confidence I should be good without wasting ammo or getting my little girls fingers too cold.

    Re: Zeroing a 5-25X56 PMII

Like Rob said, start close and work your way to 100, you will save lots of ammo.

Haha, I just tried this yesterday. Neither I or my bud spotting could see the impacts in the dirt and I wasted ammo. So I did the unthinkable and put a box out at 25Y, then measured with my reticle.

OP, once you get your 25Y zero, come up about 4 mils for 100Y.

Rob, I bought a 5-25 PMII. The combination of 10Y parallax, H-59 and amazing glass were calling me.

I even used it at our AZ state FT air rifle match. It was fun using FFP mil/mil for airgun!

Shouldn't take more than 2 shots. One shot and then look at reticle and make adjustments on the knobs off the ruler in front of you. Take another shot to check. Get it about 1.8 mils below POA at 25 yards and it will be close at 100.

Good to hear Steve. Glad you like it. Not too many people don't

I have a piece of paper with 2 black dots (about 1/2" diameter) dots separated by 2.25", one directly over the other.
I hang it on a wall 30 feet from my kitchen counter, and point the barrel at the lower dot (laser bore sighter or optically bore sight) and zero the optic on the top dot.

I have never been more than 4" off zero at 100 yards. Monday I setup my S&B PMII on a buddy's Remington 700 using this method. First shot was 1" low and dead center at 100 yards. I am not exaggerating.
