I'm able to get some CCI primers(pistol, small rifle, large rifle) for around $35 a thousand. I just want some overall opinions on them? Good and bad experiences?

Re: Opinions on CCI primers?

I love them. I find myself needing around 2k of the CCI 200's. Sadly I can't find them anywhere right now. If you are buying from a local gun store and they want to ship them to me, PM me and let me know.

In my experience CCIs are very reliable; I'd take that deal.

Re: Opinions on CCI primers?

Pretty much all I use with the exception of Fed 205M (Small Rifle Match Primers). The Fed 205M is only a little more than CCI #400 and I get a little better consistency out of my bolt 223.

For pistol, strictly CCI. I tried Win initially, but had issues with my Hornady LnL AP so made the switch and haven't looked back.

Re: Opinions on CCI primers?

CCI's have had their good and bad days/years. At one time they had uniformity issues that caused seating problems. That seems to have passed.

I have several thousand BR-2 LRP's on hand and find them to be pretty much as advertised for performance BUT I also get the same performance from the Wolf primers for half the price. Hard to argue with "single digit" ES/SD numbers in .308 loads and being able to do it for $15.50/thousand (now just over $20) makes it even sweeter

Re: Opinions on CCI primers?

I use CCI primers almost exclusively and have had no issues with seating or fail to ignite. I've gone through probably 10k in the last 24 months alone.

For $35 per thousand I'd happily buy more depending on which ones were available and pay the Haz-Mat fee to get them to me.

Re: Opinions on CCI primers?

Use CCI exclusively on all my LR rounds for all guns. Never have problems, even have a sleeve that I found from back in the late seventies that had gotten wet and the boxes had fallen apart. Let them sit and dry out and not one single malfunction. Still have some sitting around and would not hesitate to use them even in a match in a pinch.

Re: Opinions on CCI primers?

Hum I thought CCI was the only primer made for reloading.Just learned something,no,I am just kidding around.I load with CCI primers and have yet had a problem useing them.I too use Fed in my 300wm.CCI makes a great primer, and are priced better than most others.

Re: Opinions on CCI primers?

I use them in all my loads, plinking, long range you name it. Never had one misfire and I've also found they stand pressure better than some other brands (don't interchange primer brands on hot loads...!)

Unfortunately for us (I am in N. Texas) Polygunbag.com has CCI#41's on sale, brick of 5,000 for $175, but pickup ONLY! They are located in Louisville, OH.......

Re: Opinions on CCI primers?

At the Tulsa Gun Show in September of last year I found a fellow selling CCI #200 and 400 primers $125/5000. I didn't reload at the time but I planned to get into it so I bought 10k SR and 5k LR primers. Looking back, one of the best ideas I ever had...
