Lol I was in your shoes two years ago. Get through college and it will all get better with a good pay check.
What ya going for? </div></div>
Haha, hopefully when I'm done everything will still be legal...
Not sure what I want to study. I'm only in my second semester, I thought I wanted mechanical engineering but now I'm leaning more towards Accounting or finance. </div></div>
Dude, if you have the tenacity and brains, go for Engineering. (Don't worry about the parties, the Frats, and other BS. GO TO CLASS! If you eff-up school it will follow you for the rest of your life). Be it Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Software, whatever. If you are good you will always have a job and make a good salary (six figures is typical after you have a few years experience). I have a degree in Plastics Engineering (of all things) and have never been without a job, making it through many, many rounds of layoffs at different companies. I move to new jobs when I am bored or find a better opportunity. It is tough to find a good Engineer. With 18 years experience I have recruiters calling me at work 2-3 times a month wanting me for positions... Just did an interview with very profitable Medical company yesterday for a Global Sourcing Manager position. I think Medical/Biomed are good fields to be in as they are staying in the US and are high margin industries. (Unlike cell phones and lawn sprinklers). Make yourself a 5 year, 10 year and 20 year plan and work towards it... Nobody says you can't party, but take care of the important stuff first. Ask yourself it it will matter next year or in five years? If it will, then it is important stuff. My nephew is in Mechanical Engineering and is flunking out as he is too wrapped up in being president of his Frat, going to the gym and drinking beer... I am seeing some Navy or Air Force time in his near future so he can get his head out of his rectum and get his goals straight. </div></div>
I agree 100% with Lucky. If your there doing math for an accounting or finance degree go for the engineering degree. I love where my degree has taken me. "Work" is not really work when you love what you do.
I did my share of partying but I NEVER missed a class due to being hungover or passed out somewhere. Go to class, study, get help when you need it and life will be good after graduation.
Engineering is a good career to get into, opportunity is everywhere and there is a growing need for good engineers.
