Movie Theater Gangster Sqaud

Re: Gangster Sqaud

it was alright. one of those movies that you won't mind seeing but will forget about shortly thereafter.

Re: Gangster Sqaud

The previews made this movie look a lot better than it ended up being.

I expected to see a deadly smooth gangster hunting posse cleaning up town, but the movie ended up as a handful of ijits/buffoons getting lucky while shot at.

Re: Gangster Sqaud

Wife wanted to see it....holy fuck, it's a giant predictable pile of shit.

Noticed reviews said the same. Strange seemed with the cast it would've been good. I was hoping for something like "L.A. Confidential"

Re: Gangster Sqaud

Big budget, big actors, big production value, all wasted by a terrible script. If you are going to try to tell a story about real life people in an historical setting, there should be some effort applied to making some part of it accurate. All of the Mickey Cohen stuff was so factually messed up that he was just a historical name and the actions of the cops was some kind of tough guy fantasy that defies reality. This one is along similar lines with the more recent Black Dalia film: take some historical event and characters and write a fantasy around it.

Re: Gangster Sqaud

Well Im gonna be the odd man out here! I LOVED it! I thought it was great and action from begining to end...I tried to read the book but could'nt get into it, So it made me skeptical and wanted to wait till Netflix but I didnt and am glad I went to it!!!

This. Not supporting any Hugo lover. He should stick to roles like I am Sam.

Re: Gangster Sqaud

Feel the same way about Penn, but the fiance wanted to see it, so we went. I will have to give them kudos for the use of a Lewis gun! Think the last time I saw a Lewis MG used in a move was as the heavy squad weapon the Imperial Storm Troopers used in Star Wars.

I also wish someone would have told that dumbass Brolin that if you're going to carry a 1911 into a gunfight, it really should be cocked. That bugged me a bit. So did the the nice, slow-mo closeup of obviously bottlenecked (blank) cases being ejected from a Thompson. And I think I did point out to her in once scene where the fired cases from another Thompson were landing right in front of the camera, spotlessly clean, and absent a primer. Guys, this is why girls don't like seeing these types of movies with us "gun guys."

Re: Gangster Sqaud

Brolin did the same dumb ass stuff in No Country For Old Men. Had to dry the 45 out and the ammo before he shot the Pit Bull. I liked that movie but he really needs to take his gun knowledge up some if he is going to be an action type.

Re: Gangster Sqaud

think I'll wait for netflix. I loved Nolte in Mulholland Falls.
Best quote was from that movie, " this is MY town and in my town I can pick you up, burn your house, fuck your wife, and kill your dog. And the only thing that'll protect you is if I can't find you. And I already found you!"

btw that movie was on netflix last time I looked

Re: Gangster Sqaud

only reason it's on my list of movies to see is because Emma Stone is in it.
