I have come up with a fairly decent load using Hornady match brass, but it is not all that practical to come by. I am thinking of switching to lake city or possibly federal. When I switch, will I have to come up with a completely different load and start back from square 1? If so, how exactly would the brass effect the load?

The LC brass I've had weights a good bit more than Hornady. Less capisity in LC = less powder required for same pressure.

Re: 308 brass

You could FL size a piece of Hornady and plug the primer hole with putty. Tare it on the scale and fill it with water and get the water weight. I use a syringe to fill brass while its on the scale. Here are some case volumes for various brass.
WW 54.6gr
LC/02 53.3gr
LC/09 54.7gr
Lapua 55.0gr
Hornady Match 55.0
The Hornady and Lapua are both 0.014 neck wall. The LC is about 0.0145
Do the same for the new brass and compare the vols.
