Mcree chassis, Folder or No?

After weeks of debate on which chassis I wanted, I finally decided on the Mcree. But now I can't decide to get the folder or not.

I have never had a folding stock on a rifle and can't really think of a time that I wished I had one. But I can think of a couple reasons to have one (shorter profile in a case, ease of cleaning with a shorter rod etc).

If you have experience with a Mcree folder did you love it, hate it, or could go either way?

Re: Mcree chassis, Folder or No?

I just mounted up my Rem 700 AAC to a Mcree folder.i gotta say, I really am impressed with it.

The reasons I wanted a folder were some of the same ones you listed. Ease of cleaning and a compact profile.

I'm a bigger guy so the comb height is always a problem for me. Now, I don't have to lower or adjust it to stick a cleaning rod down the tube. This is a big plus for me to have the gun back to exactly the way I had it when I shot it last.

Do not worry about any movement with the folder, it's rock solid.

Re: Mcree chassis, Folder or No?

I say go with the folder. My AICS 2.0 folds and I love it it not only is it great when your cleaning it but also when you need to remove the bolt (at least with my Badger M2008) I have to fold the stock to remove the bolt it would be a pain to have to lower the comb anytime I wanted to remove my bolt.

Re: Mcree chassis, Folder or No?

I just bought a folder and it is great. Oklahoma is right, the folder is great for cleaning and maintenance. The lock up is tight both when folded and in the normal position. I do not think I will ever by another stock, the McRees had it all at a great value. I did shot last week in 15 degree weather with it, the aluminium does get cold, make sure you have at least a stock pack.

2 folders here

worth the extra money

Re: Mcree chassis, Folder or No?

+2 on the folders, realy like the 2 i have, LA, SA. I have several actions that i use in them, 2 screws and your shooting a different Rifle.

Re: Mcree chassis, Folder or No?

Another for the folder. I bought it w/o the folder and I had to adjust the cheek piece to get the bolt out. PITA. I added the folder a few months ago and haven't looked back

Re: Mcree chassis, Folder or No?

Folder all the way. I got 2 mcree green LA/ FDE SA. All the reasons mentioned above as well as when using it for a hunting rifle particularly with a shorter barrel you can fold it and stick it down in a back pack for very comfortable carry on long walks to the spot you will be setting up at

What does everyone think of the carbine (AR15 stock)version?

Any reason not to go with that?

Re: Mcree chassis, Folder or No?

Definitely folder! Just got my AR folder Monday and its awesome!
Im liking the AR folder a lot. Im sure their stock is awesome but being able to use a CTR is definitely nice.

Re: Mcree chassis, Folder or No?

I went with the folder. It locks up with zero play and makes all the traveling I do with it a lot easier.

Plus, it isn't unreasonably expensive either.

all that, and i can stuff it in a smaller case if i need to

Re: Mcree chassis, Folder or No?

I went with the the folder. It seems like for the price the added connivence will be handy.

Re: Mcree chassis, Folder or No?

Been a crazy week and haven't had a chance to check in until now. Wow, apparently I need to order the folder version. Would have never guessed it would have been unanimous in favor of the folder. Never had one so here goes something new! Thanks all for the input!
