Having more issues with my reloading for my 300wm. Keep getting stuck cases in the sizing die. I'm beginning to think its my dies, as I load my 243wssm, and my wildcat ARs without a glitch. I'm getting pretty frustrated. I'm using the hornady lock n load press, with lock n load dies. About to trash it all and buy and rcbs or redding press and dies. It will size fine but when I lower the ram back down it gets stuck in the neck. Doesn't make sense to me

Re: What am I doing wrong?

Try a dry neck lube. Your necks might be a little thick gripping the expander ball on the return stroke.

Re: What am I doing wrong?

Ya, try a little lube inside of the neck with a qtip!, I know my 300wm brass takes alot more muscle to size then my 308, doesnt last as long either, seems to get weak at the belt.

of course my load is a little hot for living in southern Arizona,
210 hunting vld, br2 primer, 76.5 h1000, dont try this load without working up, might make your stick go boom!"in the wrong way"

Re: What am I doing wrong?

Spin polish the neck insides with 0000 steel wool on a bronze brush the first time, then brush them out after each firing. Polish your expander ball by spinning the ball in a drill motor and use 1000 or 2000 grit auto finishing paper.

Re: What am I doing wrong?

I have been using the spray lube with pretty good results. Just spray at a 45* angle and you get a little in the necks also.

Re: What am I doing wrong?

Many [most] standard resizing dies size the neck down way smaller than it needs to be and then you have to yank the devil out of the case to get the expander back out. In addition to the problems you are having, this tends to pull the shoulder out of place.

You can polish up the expander ball with emory cloth to make it easier to get out of the neck. A little lube inside the neck can also help. Or you can get a carbide expander ball from Redding that fits several other brands, too. If you change dies, consider the S-type that lets you get the neck just where you want it without the need for an expander ball.

Re: What am I doing wrong?

^just ordered some new redding dies...

Lube the 2000 grit wet/dry paper with WD40 for a smoother polish.
