Gunsmithing Barrel protector

Re: Barrel protector

Most barrels come in a rubber type yellow protective mesh. This works well. I also picked up a while back a bunch of rubber caps that I can put on each end. I store all my blanks that I havent turned yet on a shelf in the yellow plastic/rubber mesh. The extra barrels such as switch barrels and such have the rubber caps to protect the chamber end and muzzle. You could probably call your local smith and ask them if they have any extra barrel sleeves that blanks are shipped in. I usually keep a few extras and throw toss tthe rest, after a point you just start to run out of room no matter how big your shop is.

Re: Barrel protector

PVC tube is great, if that's too large, get some heat shrink tubing. You could simply wrap in newspaper/bubble wrap and duct tape.

Find someone that does large format plotting (big 36"+)and use a paper roll tube.
