Gentlemen,
do any of you know or would kindly tell me what the correct center to center hole dimensions are (used for mounting scope rail) on a Remington 700 receiver are? Obviously not concerned where they are in relation to each end of the receiver but there distance from one another in a chain dimension format?
I've tried the search and it didn't turn up anything, or I missed it, sorry in that case.

Thanks guys....

Re: Hole centers

Thanks for that!
I was beginning to think I'd asked something real odd..if you've got anything more regarding short actions (I forgot to say s/action in my post) I'd be grateful.

Thanks again,

You will want to double-check these, of course; I've got a few sets of numbers in my notes that come from various sources, and they don't always jive with each other or with parts in hand.

The word is 'jibe'.

Irregardless of my mistake, you have to admit that the affect of my post and it's information contained within, for all intensive purposes, fulfilled the request. On principal alone, you should point out less mistakes and instead provide me with complements given that I literally put my heart and soul into providing the requested information.

Hopefully I didn't pop too many brain cells with that one.

Re: Hole centers

Like I said, it's a pet-peeve. I can't see it and NOT say anything.

All those (deliberate?) grammatical errors in your reply are not pet-peeves so I feel no need to correct them.

Re: Hole centers

For the OP, here is what I have in my shop notes on measurements that I took on a "RR" series S/A receiver and Badger base:

Starting from the rear-most hole, 0.600" from 1-2; 4.235" from 1-3, 5.100" from 1-4.

Note that the latter two are 0.005" and 0.010" longer than suggested by Farrell's information.

There is also this drawing that I found on my PC:

This drawing suggests values that are larger than both Farrell's and my measurements.

Unless one of the more accomplished 'smiths can weigh in with their observations, I would recommend applying the appropriate skepticism towards any of the above numbers, and instead rely on physical measurements of the parts that sit before you.

I love the "?" after your parenthetical comment; that's an oh-so-clever way of implying uncertainty about my writing skills without requiring the courage to actually come out and say something. Do you do this writing stuff for a living?

At first, 'irregrdless' offended my grammatical sensibilities, but I started to suspect that you were being deliberately obtuse when I saw 'affect' and the 'it's' clinched it. Quite witty of you, really, to stuff all that into an appropriate reply.

I'm not any kind of writing professional; just a bit OCD when it comes to some grammatical faux pas.
