I used the search function and had no luck finding any topic on it.

I'm really dead set on getting the Leupold 3.5-25x56.

http://www.gundigest.com/optics-reviews-articles/new-leupold-mark-8-3-5-25x56mm-m5b2-riflescope

I played with it at SHOT show and put some trigger time during Media day and it was just really interesting.

I currently run a Leupold 4.5-14 mk4 TMR on a Remi700 .308 with MR 5R barrel threaded for my can. It works great but there was times I figure that extra would have helped me at 1200 yards.

Thanks for anyone that can assist and answer.

Yes it's alot of bennys for a scope and yes its reaching the prices of SB and other scopes.

Re: Leupold Mk8 reviews?

I haven't heard of any on the streets yet. Are they shipping to the public? I thought the projected date was looking at April.

Re: Leupold Mk8 reviews?

I deal with a sporting goods outfit through my place of work and they do not have any in stock at 6 different locations. I do not think they are in the publics hands just yet.

Re: Leupold Mk8 reviews?

I have the 3.5-25x56. Haven't had it too long. So far so good. Straight up to install and true. I like their zero stop solution. Oversize allens to lock squeeze turrets. The squeeze turrets are a nice feature. Glass is clear. Not much chromatic. I don't have the skills to use the reticle quickly, but it is well laid out and very legible, even in low light. Returns to zero are flawless, so far. Very well built. Expensive.

Newtrick -

Are they finally shipping? Or did you source yours another way?

j-dubya,
I got mine another way. Which means, I'm also not dead sure on retail pricing. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
I will tell you however, this scope seems to be built to a different standard. I have a number of other Mk-4's, and this scope is much more rugged. Everything about it is more robust. 35 mm tube, etc.

I am very interested in this scope too. I am trying to decide between the Mark 6 and 8. I know the 6 will be great, but for something that I will be using for a lifetime, the 8 looks like a great scope.

A guy I shoot with got one. My impressions were the glass is very nice and clear, the Horus reticle is WAY to thick to be useful, and his reticle was not centered in the scope (about .3-4 mils) off center. The last one is obviously a manufacturing defect but those were my impressions.

Just my .02

I haven't gotten to look through a scope with the H58 but from what I have read I don't think I would choose it. Hopefully they come out with a TMR model. I am trying to narrow down a scope to go with and so far it seems there are to many options!

I have the MK6 with the H58 and love it. I am a high mag scope newbie though, from what I understand the H58 is the type of reticle that the military uses or used to train new users how to shoot long distance quickly and accurately. So it works for me, if you are a seasoned rifle shooter then the Christmas tree type ret might be too busy for you. Just my two cents even though it is not the MK8.
