Forster Dies Help

I am switching from a semi auto to a bolt gun in .308 Win. I have a set of Forster Ultra National Match dies (Forster #: U18332).

I want to switch to neck sizing and was going to buy a Forster Precision Plus Bushing Bump Neck Sizer Die (Forster #: BBK2751).

When the body of the brass starts to get tight and needs to be resized can I use the national match full length sizing die with out the ball? I understand it will resize it to minimum specs. Is this too much?

I am happy with my Forster dies and would like to stay with them if possible.

I will be using Lapua brass. Do I need their stoning service they offer?

Thanks for any advice. I am trying to get a little more precise with my reloading.

Re: Forster Dies Help

If you set the dies correctly you won't have any trouble using the National Match set to bump the shoulder. (Read: don't just screw the die in as far as it will go, measure the shoulder datum and set the die depth to bump it back whatever you need to chamber easily) The National Match sizer has the shoulder 0.003" shorter than a normal FL die. It should resize the body just fine even if you have to set the die a little higher to get proper shoulder bump. The case head shouldn't need resizing if you're not shooting nuclear type loads.

I wouldn't run any of the FL dies without an expander ball, though. I think that was more the question you were asking, you'll end up with more neck tension. You can run the FL die with ball and then redo the neck with the bushing to get the tension you want, but if you didn't run the expander during FL sizing it's a good bet the neck will already be smaller than your bushing.

Re: Forster Dies Help

I use the Forster dies for my .308 on my Dillon 550B. 1st station is the Forster Neck Bump Bushing die, 2nd Powder funnel and 3rd station the Forster Micro seater. It works perfectly with this setup.

When its time to FL size, I use a Redding Body die that only sizes the body and does not touch the shoulder or neck.
