Any thoughts on the SFMB-762-5/8-24? It just seems to adapt with a more versatile set of suppressors than something like the 211c.

But I frankly can't find any dealer that has it in stock. Zero- and if anybody knows one a tip would be welcome.

Re: SFMB-762

This muzzle brake has not started shipping yet. It should not be too much longer though before they hit the streets. Unless you get a screaming deal on a 762SS or 762K I would choose the SOCOM 762 over those ones because the mounts and suppressor are better in my opinion.

Re: SFMB-762

Thanks and greatly appreciated.

No doubt you guys make great products- which keep getting better. But the spread between announcement and release gets a little frustrating IMVHO.

I have a rifle being built that is now waiting a month for that part. That causes most other folks to look for alternatives. But if you want to run Surefire suppressors- You. Just. Wait.

Anyway, taking this sideways; did you ever think about licensing your adapter design to someone like, say, BCE- so your suppressors could be run with those brakes?

The suppressors and flash hiders are already shipping. The 556 brakes have started shipping just not the 762 brakes yet but it should be soon.

I don't see us having anyone else machine a brake compatible with our suppressors anytime in the near future.

Re: SFMB-762

Will this brake work on the Scar 17? I know other brakes were not recommended due the barrel profile not having enough shoulder to lock against.

Re: SFMB-762

Any status updates on the SOCOM 762 brakes? I've been looking for them, but none of the major online retailers seem to have them yet.

Re: SFMB-762

They just started shipping last week but I couldn't tell you who has them in stock yet.

Re: SFMB-762

Just a follow up.

I am sorry to report the SFMB 7.62 rollout as a fail.

I am still waiting and was told today at least another four weeks. That's after ordering months ago.

For numerous reasons I can wait any longer.

Surefire products are fantastic. But when the market introduction and availability are this far apart it does damage to your reputation and forces folks to look for other products.

Re: SFMB-762

They released some, I got a handful but were picked up very quickly.

Re: SFMB-762

Which leaves me further puzzled. I only need one and ordered it months ago. I've got a rifle tied up for a very long period because I insisted on this brake.

So you can imagine how PO I am to bail on this.

Guess I should have stalked your website...

Re: SFMB-762

I feel like I should comment on this thread. We have only been shipping this brake since about mid December. Since then we have shipped just under 650 of these brakes. The reason you are waiting unfortunately is because a long string of events. Our President got re-elected and a lot of people went on a panic buy. Our SOCOM suppressor just started shipping this year so the majority of our sales are for that and the fact that the 5/8X24 is the most common thread size for .30 caliber rifles means most people end up going with a brake over a flash hider.

This doesn't make it any better for you but what I have learned from the multiple builds I have done over the years is barrels usually take 6 months, actions usually take a few months unless you go with a factory, stocks usually take 6 months if you go fiberglass and you have to get really good at waiting. If you buy any Class 3 items then you get REALLLLYYYYYYY good at waiting.

I am sorry I couldn't be of more help and I am sorry you ended up going with a different brake because you couldn't wait any longer but we are shipping them. We have shipped quite a few and honestly since December we have shipped thousands of suppressor adapters. We usually do batches of 500 to 1,000 at a time but honestly with the panic buying we are shipping them out the door as fast as we can make them. If you want to email me and discuss this further my email is below and once again I apologize.

Re: SFMB-762

First, I appreciate your response brother. It takes a lot of class to do that

Two factors heighten the frustration level. First of course is time to market. Second are the continual delivery promises, then when it doesn't show up, another 4-6 estimate.

My rifle has been sitting complete, sans the brake I really wanted, since last year. I ordered the brake almost as soon as it was available and yet I am still waiting. Meanwhile other folks have somehow gotten theirs- which at a minimum is curious. If one understands the concept of first-in-first-out, by the aforementioned, panic buying should not have affected me.

Compounding the situation is that NY is pushing me to get the rifle delivered ASAP- before they don't let it in.

Now- I've gotten a few leads from folks on the board as to suppliers who may have one. Given the scarcity it's a stretch but I am giving it one last try. Otherwise I have to go with something else available. Which sucks.

Quite frankly there is a lesson here about advertising, promises and delivery.

Re: SFMB-762

Have you been talking to customer service who has been telling you 4-6 weeks? If so I apologize for that response because it was obviously not accurate or else you would already have your brake.

Did you order direct or through a dealer? Reason I ask is because we allow dealers to place orders early and you can only order from them for the first month until we put it on the website.

Does the rifle have to ship into the state with the brake already attached? I am not familiar with NY laws but if it doesn't you could always have the dealer ship it to you and the brake installation is super easy and can be done by you.

I understand your frustration and I am sorry it is taking so long. I am waiting to hear back from the suppressor division when we will have the backorder filled on this brake but when I find out an accurate lead time I will let you know.

Re: SFMB-762

The company performing the build made the order directly from Surefire. They have called and inquired about status and were given the 4-6 figure (It's not their first call and delay BTW).

They won't take delivery in NY unless it is compliant upon delivery. I've heard there are ways around that- but it could be urban legend.

Honestly, I realize I'm one small guy next to the distributors but it's one darn brake.
