Around here it's really the only way to maximize your chances if calling. They just don't respond to calls around here much in the daylight and their food sources are so plentiul that you just can't bring them from much more than a 1/4 mile radius at any given time. I hunt every year in Montana and they are nothing like from my experience. Once I went to nvgs at night shit started going down.

Re: Zero dog thirty

Same here . Tons of agriculture land here in the valleys that I hunt on . Big # Coyotes are hold-up thick in bunches . But in daytime is hard to get them to come out & take there medicine because they are taught from the bitch @ birth, that all they have to do is wait till dark & they have full and non-restricted run of the land & they run wild .
Been doing it for several years & Still It's NOT easy pickins @ night . You have to learn the groups that are breeding & work them by rotating areas so not to over pressure them with your calls and your culling . Also @ night some shots are pretty close like 50 yrd give-me shots . But a lot that come-in still like to keep that instinctive 75 to 125-yrd safety distance also . Especially if the coyotes that are over a couple years old, they are pretty good @ staying alive .

What you got . That is a good over-all package for culling coyote @ night .
I got my most success with what I use & got it down to (what I think) the bare minimum on packing in the field . Easy to pack, hike, walk, hide @ night & drag-out dead coyotes out of the field in the night time with all your gear .
pvs14 on the head .
Tripod in carry pack .
Suppressor/ scoped rifle with quality IR w/focal beam-laser .
Small surefire hand-held IR on lanyard around neck .
Large Fanny Pack that carries my electronic call / extra batteries /small flashlight / hand call & pocket squeaker etc.

Re: Zero dog thirty

softcock, your load out sounds good and is very similar to mine. mine is generally

helmet mounted 14
supertac ir light
18"spr type AR that i run an aim 2000 ir laser and can double duty as a prescision platform with an optic. very light and handy.
my new choice for close in work in brushy and tight areas is my 300blackout 9" pistol with a MARS IR reflex sight shooting 178amax subsonic. hits hard.

shoulder satchel with my call, spare batts, mouth calls, 3x lens
small bog pod tripod or single shooting stick depending on the area. i think i have my rig nailed down as well after alot of trial and error.

Re: Zero dog thirty

SWEET / like minds . I also run a 8.5 30-221 suppressed shorty for sitting in close tight areas
also Used a AR for long time but switched last year & I use a 16" suppressed BLK boltgun on a XLR folding chassis for the coyote Rifle set-up .
