Help Back up Iron sights Which one

I'm looking for a rear back up iron sight AR15 rifle standared F stamped front sight. I'd like a spring loaded rear sight that would lock in both the up and down position. I thought that Troy had one version that fits, and the ARMS is nice, but no lock. Which rear sight would you say is best; I'm not using a scope with this rifle maybe a red dot.

Re: Help Back up Iron sights Which one

I like my BUIS to be fixed. It's there the instant you need it. With that said, you can't beat Troy sights with a stick. IMO it's almost the standard for folding BUIS.

Re: Help Back up Iron sights Which one

Matech isn't bad for the money.

Re: Help Back up Iron sights Which one

I've used ARMS 40 and 40L rear BUIS. Extremely nice product. I have Troys on another rifle, and I prefer the ARMS hands down.

Re: Help Back up Iron sights Which one

I vote for the Troy battle sights. They are not spring loaded but lock up tight and hold their zero. Plus they fold up into a nice small profile if you are going to run optics.

Re: Help Back up Iron sights Which one

Thanks for your help guys; its looks like its personel favorite thing. What ever works best for you. ARMS is nice it just folds down nothing to keep it up. A standared fixed rear sight would block a red dot trying to always look through all those sights together. I'll keep searching.

Re: Help Back up Iron sights Which one

Why don't you get a Daniel Defense A1.5 rear fixed sight and then run an Eotech 516 (built in riser so the sights would be in the lower third of the Eotech's focal plane) or a regular Eotech with an ARMS riser.

But then it's in the way when you don't...which is 99.9% of the time...

I run lower 1/3 and never notice it. I'm not fixated on it anyway to be a nuisance.

I like KAC.

I cant get enough KAC.

I like that KAC will stay erect to the point you could cause damage than the KAC will go flaccid again.

You can manipulate the KAC on your rear by hand - no tools to adjust.

There is just way to much to praise about KAC except for the price.

If you havent looked at KAC you may try some KAC and discover you have a taste for it.

lol Sorry but this reply made my afternoon for some sick reason. KAC is good stuff though. Just pricey and hard to come by sometimes.

KAC micro's for me! No tools...and windage adjustment.

Re: Help Back up Iron sights Which one

My all time favorite for M4 based on my ability to use them accurately out to 400 yards is the GGG MAD because the aperatures are on the same plane(centered with each other) giving the same point of impact.

It is also lower than the others but doesn't lock down. Not sure why you would want it to lock down cause when you need it you won't have to fumble with some locking mechanism and I've never had one accidentally deploy.
