Don't know about you, but I'd love a 300 Win Mag gas gun from GAP. I've seen a 300 WM AR-platform out there so I know it can be done. Honestly, anything in 300/338 would be awesome!

Why 300WM? Why not pick the 6.5 Creedmoor or 6mm Creedmoor?
I wouldn't fix what isn't broken. The 6 Creedmoor runs like a top and to be able to hit 3k in a gasser with the 105gr bullets is pretty damn conveniant for about anything.

Just my 2 cents....

Re: George: "long action" GAP-10?

Do the GAP10s run a standard BCG or proprietary unit?

Thinking about butchering a DPMS 300 SAUM and making a 6.5 saum upper for gap10.

There wasn't much "why" in my reasoning, but a lot of "why not." I have very little experience with 6.5CM. I know it's a great target round, but I'd rather be throwing a 220gr projectile to 1200 yds consistently. My main purpose for this imaginary rifle would be big/dangerous game in North America.

Mainly, I just think it would be awesome.

Re: George: "long action" GAP-10?

While my 6 Creed with a 23" tube runs nearly identical ballistics as my 300 win with 191, I had a chance to run the Nemo arms 300 win AR and was very impressed. It hits with MUCH more authority at distance than the little 105 grainers.

Re: George: "long action" GAP-10?

Look at NEMO Arms Inc. they have a .300 win mag that MSP $5,600.00 its being tested by the spec Ops. They rate it as sub-MOA. It's called the OMEGA it has a 14rd mag, Gieselle trigger,

I think it's worth taking a look at.

I've seen those and they're awesome, but I bet George could do better.

Re: George: "long action" GAP-10?

I think part of the problem is developing a system isn't cheap . And with the current political climate and risk I don't think this is the best time to start getting into development of another semi-auto platform taking as well as taking away from key resources working non-stop to try and fill the overwhelming orders that are already in. Food for thought...

I agree.
I just said it would be awesome.
I don't expect anything to come of this.
I just wanted to see what people's reaction would be.
If enough interest is show over time I guess it's a possibility but I'm not holding my breath.

Re: George: "long action" GAP-10?

Don't get me wrong though... I would LOVE a sub-moa 338 or 300WM semi-auto

Re: George: "long action" GAP-10?

Broker, it would be incredible. I may end up with that Omen from Nemo Arms, but I know GAP could bring that platform to its full potential. I'll keep my fingers crossed on this one.

Re: George: "long action" GAP-10?

o im in also....

ive thought about this one before and i know ive seen a ar10 chambered in 300 SAUM and that puts out pills in similar velocities .... but i cant imagine that it compares to the real 300 WIN

I'm currently sending 190 VLDs at around 2915...a bit shorter than the 300 WM but FAR superior to things like the 308 or Creedmoor variants.
I've taken 210 VLDs at the cusp of 2900, so IMO, the ability to do that in a platform that already exists is good enough for me.

Re: George: "long action" GAP-10?

I think a LA gasser would be best chambered in 284. With the new 190 hybrids it would be as flat shooting with lower recoil than the 300 win. And I am guessing lower pressures which would mean better reliability. But I still wouldn't trust it.

If you want to run sub-sonic .30 cal bullets, why not the 300 blackout for the AR15 or hell, sub-sonic loads for a 308win AR10? Why ask GAP to reinvent the wheel? Or am I missing something here...

You most certainly are missing something.

Missed something? Yeah, I think a lot of people are going to miss whatever that is.
You want to use a 300WM to shoot subsonic loads out of, when two smaller, currently available cartridges already do it in proven platforms that already exist?

Tell ya what...call George and see if hes "missing it"

Re: George: "long action" GAP-10?

You are missing that I'm just trying to match the absurdity of the original request with an equally absurd follow-up statement.

I figured as much, but I didn't see where you pressed the Sarcasm button...

Personally every time I hear about a long action AR variant I think of the Noreen Bad News 338 and cringe.

I think 338 would be too big for that platform. The Bad News was clearly a faulty system, and subsonic would completely defeat the original idea.

Again, all this is just for shits and giggles.

But I would absolutely use an AR in 300WM.

He has spoken. It is done.

My 2 cents, if I need something bigger than a .308, I'm going bolt.

Haha, I'm surprised this thread lasted as long as it did. Oh well, guess I'll have to go with the OMEN.
