1. Savage Model 111 and a 110 currently 30-06 bull barrel (11 years old)
I beleive it is a long actions as the screws are 5.062- please tell me if I am wrong.
Is it possible to make the model 111 into a 7WSM, 264 win mag, 6.5-284, 284 with a mag blot face. And is it possible to make the 110 into a 6.5 creemadore

Plans are as follows-
Use the action and get blueprinted/trued up
new bolt and recoil lug
receiver face trued
Bartlein/Hart/Krieger or Shilen Barrel at least 24"-trued
Barrel threaded for Thunder beast
Jewell trigger
custom bolt knob
new extractor
APA DBM w mag
Manners or mcmillan A5 depending on price and availablity
pillar bedding

• 6mm-06
• 6mm Catbird (6-06 AI)
• 25-06
• 6.5-06, 6.5-06 A-square, 260 Newton
• 270 Win

Are some other options for the second weapon as I want it to be setup for my wife and daughters. Let me know what you think

I need feedback to see if this build is possible with the actions/savage guns I have. If you have any input or suggestions on a better build please let me know and be kind. I am willing to learn and will take my lumps.

Re: New build caliber check and build list check

Looks like you have a few remington only parts mixed in there.

Jewell trigger (look at sharp shooter supply, or I thought I heard Timney has started making them)
APA DBM (CDI Precision is one of your only choices here)

If youre going that crazy with it might as well have it chambered like a Remington and ditch the barrel nut setup. Ive done a few of those and they shoot lights out. Think of it as a Bighorn action, just not as nice and with less aftermarket parts available (ie triggers, stocks, dbm).

Re: New build caliber check and build list check

Thank you after looking at it ditching the barrel nut will work well. I update the list to use timney triggers and CDI metal. I want to use manners stock they have some great options. What magazine will I be able to use with the CDI looking at the different calibers.
I know for sure I am going with a 284 just not sure for the second.

Re: New build caliber check and build list check

You can make the long action into a 6.5 creedmoor, however it is unnecessary, that doesnt mean not possible though.

CDI takes AICS mags.

Re: New build caliber check and build list check

That would be great to make one into a 6.5 as I want 1 for long range and one for elr.

Re: New build caliber check and build list check

Are there any limitations that Iam going to run into in using a savage long action in a 6.5 creedmoor?

This may seem like a dumb question but is there any way to limit the bolt throw? Kinda extreme though

Re: New build caliber check and build list check

After being schooled about the long action I believe my only and best option for this savage build is a 280 ackley improved. The case capacity is just shy of the 7mm's. Any other ideas as to a better load?
