Ammo update

Wally world,
Pistol ammo, they were flush with everything, except 22lr.
Rifle, some .223 and .308 and a few other cals. Not as much as pistol but still way more than I have seen in awhile.
Stopped by the LGS they were flush with most everything, including powder. Still short on primers but they had a few, but pricey.

A friend says they (different shop) are getting 20 each, 8# jugs of Varget, but the price is going to be $220.00 +/-
How about your A/O?

Re: Ammo update

$220 for 8 pounds of Varget!!! I'll switch up powders b4 I take that in the ass.

nothing in the Midwest.

Re: Ammo update

It's going to take a few months for bullet & powder to catch up with what was drained the last 60 days from the shelves .
.

Re: Ammo update

Same with the Walmarts around here. No 22s but 357s, 9mms 'n such.

I didn't check the prices, (I reload).

Re: Ammo update

I went to a couple of stores in the Portland metro area on Friday. The largest gun store in the area had converted from general sporting arms to almost exclusively tactical arms before the Newtown murders (good timing). They had a reasonable inventory of Glocks, a good number of high end AR platforms, some XDs and M&P handguns and ammo. The ammo was restricted as to amount purchased and the price was a little high but not outrageous. A good example was they had two 30rd. P-Mags at $30.00 each. Prettty reasonable in the current market. One of the guys tere told me that Mag-Pul had cut off Cheaper Than Dirt for gouging. I hope thats true.

Last factory I bought was some win 54R and 39, 5 years ago because it was cheaper than new boxer brass. Wanted some sub loads, but now I convert berdan to boxer, so free is better yet.

Re: Ammo update

Everything is trickling in around me. Local gunstore gets in ar's on a daily basis and colt ar's were $1,400.

Re: Ammo update

Wally world is no longer listing ammo on their site. Guess an inventory system is pointless when it updates once a week and shipments of ammo sell out in 15 minutes.

Re: Ammo update

Hit or miss here in SWFla. If you luck into WM you can get a 3 box ration. Usually totally wiped out except for 38,410 but no 9mm or 40,45,223,308.
It sucks, but ...

Eric

Re: Ammo update

one of them down to road from me . So I went down there to check on ammo inventory .

Had Factory box's of .308 /30-06 / 243 / 7mm / 300wm etc.
Big pile of .22mag & 17hmr but No .22lr yet
Shelves full of Shotgun .
No .223
No 9mm pistol . but others like .38 / 357 / 380
.

Re: Ammo update

this shortage actually shows what ammo would get scarce in a shtf situation soon

looks like .38 .357 and 243 30-06 is the way to go

Re: Ammo update

My lgs had one AR-15 on the shelf. Plain jane Windham Weaponry for about $1125. Cabelas onlu had the zombie max .223, and only one box of CCI #35 primers. They just got a shipment of Alliant and Accurate powder in but nothing I could use. Bullets are pretty sparse to nonexistant. Shit is not getting any better around here, but lucky me I stocked up.

Re: Ammo update

Shop here had two bushmasters- the first ars I've seen in the area for a while. One is a carbon-15 and the other is a base model. The second was marked about $400 over msrp. Hunting caliber ammo (270, 30-06, 243, 7mag, etc) are plentiful but military calibers (308, 223, 45, 9mm) are non-existent. I did see 1 box of overpriced 308 ammo at bass pro today.

Re: Ammo update

Picked up six P-mags and some other stuff yesterday but it's getting harder to find stuff. One shop still has several thousand rifle and mag-rifle primers.

Re: Ammo update

Well I load 230 gr powerbond with just about any pistol powder and have 30 cal bullets and 308 brass piled up to last a lifetime of hunting, and maybe a 3 years of competitive shooting.

If anything else I will just start stealing wheel weights and casting bullets for my 45 lc and shot for my 10 gauge. Not to worried I have to many calibers to never have a rifle, shotgun, or handgun of substantial power for defense and gathering food.

I just want to know what those people who are sitting on 6k rounds of 223 are going to do when demand goes back to normal

I sure hope it does. I just picked up a Sig P228 M11A1 that took me a while to save for/find. Now I cant find any 9mm on the shelves anywhere. Consider it the most expensive paperweight ever.

Re: Ammo update

same in oregon and nevada.no 22/223/308/762 ammo to be found.powder and primers are hit and miss.the guys at the box store call their pals when unloading shipment and it is all sold out before it makes the shelf.hope this stops soon.

Re: Ammo update

My neighborhood Walmart has never carried guns and their ammo selection sucked before the panic. I don't even bother looking there anymore. Went to the Cabelas south of Austin yesterday and they had no 223, 308, or 9mm. Plenty of shotgun ammo and large hunting calibers (300 WM, 30-06, 375, 7mm). They had just two ARs, few tactical shotguns, but plenty of nice hunting bolt action rigs. Reloading supplies looked ravaged too. I have some 308 ammo orders placed online with two companies but I'm sure I will be waiting along time for the shipments. My neighborhood Academy store has also been cleaned out of guns and common caliber ammo. Again lots of shotgun ammo.

Re: Ammo update

Big box stores around here are sold out but the LGS's have some stock of just about everything on hand. Saw a couple ar's on the shelf at normal prices yesterday, decent selection of powders..handgun bullets and 223 are hard to find but not impossible..
