Wrong Primers???

I just got 2000 primers for 5.56 reloads. I bought the CCI 400's not knowing that they might be the wrong ones---told the gun shop I wanted small rifle primers for 5.56.
Should I definitely try to replace them with the CCI 41(?) or 450(?), or try them first to see how my S&W M&P15 handles them? I have used Federal standard small rifle primers in this rifle with no adverse affect, but don't know enough about it to know the relative differences in these two primers.
Any advice from experience will be gladly accepted.
Thanks,
Tim

Re: Wrong Primers???

I use either CCI 400's or Win Standards. I've never had a slamfire. As always, assume the gun may fire when releasing the bolt.

Re: Wrong Primers???

Alot of guys around here use the 400, use them, it could be awhile before you can find 2k of what you want.

I've used them with no issues over many years, even the CCI-450s with ball powders.

Make sure that you're seating all of your primers .003"-.005" below flush.

The Rem 7 1/2 primer seems to be the standard, but they all will work if we do our case prep carefully.

Uniform your primer pockets if you can't seat flush.
