Out of the blue, UPS just dropped my new 34" Krieger off. Wife looked at me funny when I started doing the happy dance when she turned around holding it. (Ordered in October)

lol, how i know that feeling. my wife thought i was crazy when she married me...she has since given up trying to understand my ups/fedex/usps happy dancing.

glad to hear it, looking forward to a range report!

Re: Hallelujah, UPS just delivered my barrel!

I really hope this one shoots as well and the 30" tube on my current rifle. I just got it rechambered with my new F-TR reamer and with 1800 or so down the tube it's still shooting .3s at 300 with my first OCW groups. Good barrel + good gunsmith + good ammo = happy shooter.

Funny, Last time I was in the shop my gunsmith told me he liked working on my guns, he said the easiest way to look stupid in his line of work is to hand a $4000 custom to a guy and have him come back wanting to know why it won't shoot match accuracy with surplus eastern block ammo.

You should be GTG with a Krieger. I know any barrel manufacturer can make a dud every now and then but i've yet to see a Krieger that didn't hammer. Good luck. I have another rig being built at the moment and its a Brux barrel so we'll see how that one does as its my first, always used Kriegers.

heheh, so before I took everything to Predator this AM I put all the parts except the aluminum pillars (used them in another build) on the scale this morning. With the bikini cover on the scope the whole kit weighs 18.15 so an inch off the blank and the metal from the chamber and a spray clean before weigh in and I think I'll be OK.

(My shooting partner at Raton had to take one of the caps off of his Nightforce BR to make weight)

Re: Hallelujah, UPS just delivered my barrel!

Not sure if you noticed, but the scale at Raton seemed to be reading a tick on the heavy side (16.70 lb for my rifle vs 16.50 lb on my [calibrated] scale at home. Sounds like your going to be pretty close. I'm in the same boat. I don't want to be running too close to the limit or else I might need to bring a drill with me to Raton this August (LOL).

What contour did you go with? Heavy Palma?

What stock you running on that rig? The rig im building will be right at weight also with a 30 inch heavy palma barrel.

It's a PR&T with no adjustments. Running a Sinclair V3 adjustable pod, a Defiance target action w/ aluminum pic rail, NF Ultra light rings, 42NXS, Jewel trigger. All the parts on the scale, including the screws and pins and it's over weight by the weight of the Jewel before the smith chambers it, cuts off an inch and crowns the barrel.

I'm thinking about installing an adjustable cheek at some point, if I do that I'll slim the forend a bit and probably have to hollow the cheek some or convince myself to buy either a March or one of the new Nightforce scopes and save 7 or 8oz.

Re: Hallelujah, UPS just delivered my barrel!

I will say that the PR&T F/TR is a nice stock with the adjustable cheek and 3-way butt plate. I picked one up to surprise my wife, well that backfired as she can't get comfortable behind it.

Good luck with your new barrel.

Thats the same stock im going with on my rig except mine will have the adjustable cheek and butt plate. I have the sinclair pod currently on my rig im shooting now but think i will give the Phoenix pod a whirl on the new build. Im using the F class Panda aluminum action to save a few ounces instead of a BAT. Im also thinking about trying the new Nightforce competition scope, I must say though that ive never had a lick of problems with my current NXS but they are on the heavy side for sure. The March scopes are nice also, buddy of mine that we shoot matches with has one and really likes it.

Sounds like a nice rig you're building, should do well with it. You chambering it for the 185s and 200s?

Cool, that'll work for the 200s also if you so choose.

Re: Hallelujah, UPS just delivered my barrel!

If you don't already have a reamer in hand... might want to inquire @ PT&G about the 2013 USFTR reamer - essentially a 95 Palma with 0.170" freebore. Seems to work pretty well with the 185s, should work really well with the 200s.
