Why not ask Zeiss and Kahles?

If Zeiss or Kahles made reproductions of their vintage sniper scopes I would order at least 3.

How many would you order?

Who knows, maybe Kahles could make an upgraded copy of the Redfield 3-9 M40 scope with state of the art lenses? Any takers on these?

It must be a market for these scopes out there.

I think we have to ask them..

Re: Why not ask Zeiss and Kahles?

Zeiss sponsors the LE section here.

Write up your request (which model or vintage you would like) and I will post it there for their rep and/or send them over to this thread.

They are probably watching... but in case... post what you want and we can make sure it gets seen.

Cheers,

Sirhr

Re: Why not ask Zeiss and Kahles?

M40 repro scope is something I've very interested in. The 1st gen (green) ones to be exact.

Re: Why not ask Zeiss and Kahles?

I would love to have a new made ZF39 for my SSR clone. But, I'm sure the market would be limited and the cost would be high. The problem is that you can get postwar Scopes for around $300 or even less that fit the bill. If they could do it for $500 or less, they may have a market.

Re: Why not ask Zeiss and Kahles?

I would go for a 500$ replica, and even pay up to, but most likely no more, 750$ if Zeiss made quality ZF39's or other similar models sometimes used on some of the 98's.

Re: Why not ask Zeiss and Kahles?

I have two vintage Zeiss ZF39...a zielvier and a zielsechs. Both in fully functioning and mint condition and in regular use. Neither cost me more than $600.

I really don't understand guys who would pay $500 for a half-arsed repro (or $750 with a repro mount)as advertised on Ebay right now.

And yes...if Zeiss could nail it for a similar price, I'd be in for a well-made repro.

Sadly (as posted elsewhere) none of the available repros seem to be anything other than cheap efforts to make a quick buck with minimum effort from the upturn in vintage interest.

I know several people (and myself) who would be in for a wellmade accurange replica (and it would be all the better, for the modern glass)
Even if they were to repro their ZF69, and perhaps an MST-100 (before leatherwood get in and murder these too

)
Done right, there would certainly be good demand on any of these..
