Barnes 140gr 6.5mm bullets - good or bad?

Re: Barnes 140gr 6.5mm bullets - good or bad?

I've shot a good bit of them in sporting type rigs in 6.5x284. like all Barnes bullets they are a little bit long for weight, but have an excellent BC.
I shot them out to 600 yards and they grouped very well at all distances out to that distance. I found they exhibited pressure signs earlier than typical lead core bullets, even with the same amount of jump to the lands. I attribute this to a higher engraving pressure being required on all copper bullets.

As has been my experience with other barnes bullets, I found that once you found a load that your rifle liked, they shot very well. I also found that seating depth was more influencial on accuracy than quite a bit of difference in powder charge.

In sum, I like them very much.

I'm going to be testing some of these in the coming weeks so I'm interested in other people's experiences with them. From what little I can fine on them, everyone has had good results with them. We shall see

I'll test them for the first time this coming Saturday.

I'd say your rife likes those loads you've put together. The great thing about Barnes' is that they make an awesome on game pill as well as shooting well.

I think you'll find that most barnes of similar weight and cal will shoot well for you- i.e. the TTSX as well as the TSX or the TSX Long Range.

Good shooting brother.
