Wilcox Industries designs some of the most sophisticated and user-centric night vision helmet mount systems available. The first reaction people tend to have is to balk at the price tag. Sure, it is expensive, but like everything: you get what you pay for. Wilcox helmet mounts are, literally, works of engineering art. They are designed with direct input from US Warfighters at the very tip of the sharp stick. These designs are refined until they reach perfection and are then masterfully crafted in Wilcox’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility.

The Wilcox L4 G24 Breakaway Lever Mount is designed to interface with various bracket-style NVG Shrouds. It allows the operator to attach an AN/PVS-7A or 7C night vision goggle to a helmet-mounted Ops-Core VAS Shroud, Standard US Army 1-Hole Shroud, or even a Norotos Universal Shroud. The L4 G24 is one of the most universal mounts in the Wilcox line because it does not require a proprietary shroud. It does, however, retain the sought-after breakaway feature found on other Wilcox models. The breakaway feature allows the operator to preset the mount for a secure lock with the shroud or to allow it to break away under stress so as to prevent injury. Activities that could cause entanglement such as rappelling and fast roping or high speed operations where the NVG can bang into objects are a leading cause in neck and head injury to soldiers. The ability of the G24 to break free of the shroud under these conditions protects the user’s body and the NVG from severe injury or damage.

Another great feature of the Wilcox L4 G24 is that it cantilevers the NVG out in front of your head instead of over it (like the standard issue mounts). This reduces your profile and makes it easier to judge your height when entering and exiting vehicles or moving through windows and doorways.

The Wilcox L4 G25 Mount System represents a team-up between Wilcox Industries and Ops-Core. The L4 G25 features a Wilcox L4 G24 Breakaway Lever Arm and comes complete with an Ops-Core VAS Shroud. This simplified system does away with the proprietary mounting convention found in previous Wilcox units. It does, however, retain the sought-after breakaway feature. The breakaway feature allows the operator to preset the mount for a secure lock with the shroud or to allow it to break away under stress so as to prevent injury. The Wilcox L4 G24 Mount System is designed to securely attach to a non-drilled ACH/MICH type helmet. It is comprised of a shroud bracket that clips under the front lip of the helmet and a length of nylon webbing that extends over the top of the shell. The webbing feeds into a patented ratcheting mechanism that hooks under the lip of the rear of the helmet. This mechanism is the most secure ratcheting system on the market and will not come undone during vigorous activity or from getting bumped by debris. One of Wilcox’s patented retractable lanyards is attached to the webbing, providing a positive retention system for valuable NVGs.

The System is completed by the excellent Wilcox L4 G24 Mounting Arm. The Wilcox L4 G42 is the best solution for mounting NVG’s to a non-drilled helmet. We do not recommend drilling into ballistic helmets because it will allow moisture to get in between the layers of resin and Kevlar, eventually compromising ballistic integrity. So, if your helmet is not pre-drilled for a shroud, do not fret. You can still have access to some of the best mounting solutions around.

Wilcox L4 Army Compatible One Hole Shroud

L4_1HoleShrdBrkt1.jpg

The Wilcox L4 1-Hole Shroud is compatible with all standard bracket night vision mounts. It is designed to replace the standard issue ACH/MICH bracket shroud, offering a more robust and secure mount solution. The L4 1-Hole Shroud is constructed from advanced polymers and Aerospace-grade Aluminum Alloy and bolts to any single hole ACH/MICH ballistic helmet. It improves on the standard issue shroud by providing a more streamlined platform that conforms to the helmet surface, keeping it from snagging on parachute risers. It also includes the excellent Wilcox retractable NVG lanyard which means no more 550 cord! The mounting hardware is ballistic, with the head being over-molded with rubber. This provides grip on the back of the mounting bracket for a tighter fit and little to no wobble.

We are very happy with the new L4 1-Hole Shroud. It provides a cost-effective, yet huge upgrade alternative to the standard shroud. The quality is typical Wilcox, which is to say: excellent. The pure versatility is one of the biggest selling points. Because it accepts any mount with a standard bracket, you can use a standard issue Rhino Mount or the Wilcox L4 G24 Mount. It will even interface with Norotos AKA2 and INVG mounts!

Wilcox L4 Ratchet Strap Shroud

L4_1HoleShrdBrkt_1.jpg

The Wilcox L4 Army Compatible Ratchet Strap Shroud with Lanyard is an excellent choice for operators without a drilled helmet. It features the new L4-style shroud that is compatible with all standard bracket night vision mounts such as the USGI Rhino Mount and the new Wilcox G24. The system features Wilcox’s proprietary ratchet system that will not come undone under pressure. The excellent Wilcox retractable lanyard is present on a sliding bracket attached to the nylon webbing strap. The L4 Army Compatible Ratchet Strap Shroud with Lanyard is one of the sturdiest non-hard-mounted systems available. Unlike the standard issue ratchet strap assembly, the Wilcox model is designed to take field abuse and stay in place.

The L4 Army-Compatible Ratchet Strap Shroud with Lanyard is one of the best systems of its kind. Because it accepts any mount with a standard bracket, you can use a standard issue Rhino Mount or the Wilcox L4 G24 Mount. It will even interface with Norotos AKA2 and INVG mounts! The ratcheting mechanism is one of the best we have seen and is extremely low profile. It has no protruding release levers, so there is no danger of it accidentally disengaging. In fact, it takes some force to unlock it in the first place.

Wilcox L4 Ratchet Strap Shroud $400.00

Please note that Wilcox Mounts utilize a proprietary dovetail interface and are not compatible with USGI bayonet plugs. We carry the full line of Wilcox Interface Shoes that will retrofit your NVG system to be compatible with your Wilcox Mount. Wilcox manufacturers an Interface Shoe Adapter for just about every NVG system in use today. Please make sure you have the proper adapter when purchasing a Wilcox Mount.
