Natural point of aim established. Now, do you squeeze your bag to fine tune and hold elevation, etc?

Re: ARE YOU A BAG SQUEEZER?

I guess I don't get it. I use squeeze bags, I love 'em, but they are kind of self explanatory once you practice with one really.

I suppose it would be easier to show than to describe. Maybe someone else can put this in words for you. Sorry.

You basically form a mushroom with it --stock rests on the top. You can squeeze more media into the bag, or relax and let some out to change elevation. That is what works for me.

Re: ARE YOU A BAG SQUEEZER?

Yes, I do squeeze for elevation sometimes. However most of the time I hold the bag with my fingers and let the stock ride on my fore finger and thumb then squeeze the bag under them to correct for elevation.

Re: ARE YOU A BAG SQUEEZER?

I use a bag but I don't "squeeze" it while shooting. Rather than forcefully constricting the bag, I get it to a point where I can hold my had statically to prevent settling or shifting of the bag and but stock on top. Less muscular stress and one less thing to think about.

Re: ARE YOU A BAG SQUEEZER?

I did, until I got one of these link .

The bag has adjustment pulls on each end, that allow for hands free use.

Re: ARE YOU A BAG SQUEEZER?

Sometimes I squeeze mine for pleasure... Oh your talking shooting? Yes I squeeze the bag. Maybe the guy from the monopod post will come in here and tell us sand bags aren't for shooting either....

Pretty much this. The bag I use holds its shape when deformed. Constant pressure is not required to retain correct height. For those who wonder, it is a $2.99 play punching balloon (the kind with the rubber band tether) from the supper market filled with fine play sand and stuffed in a black sock. I really couldn't be happier with the system.

Re: ARE YOU A BAG SQUEEZER?

Perfect bag filler (for feel) is a grain called millet. Flows just right.

It's heavy. Not humping a 2lb rear bag at a match. Plus, if it gets wet, it can rot, plus rodents might be interested. I use this for load development, tiny group shooting and F class.

For super lightweight and "good" feel, fake snow from the craft store is excellent. My 3"x6"x9" tactical pillow rear bag weighs 5oz, and doesn't absorb water, so doesn't gain weight when wet.

I second the tactical smooshie from 3gungear, it is super lightweight and yet very stable.

Re: ARE YOU A BAG SQUEEZER?

I typically use just my fist, no bag. Push my fist against my bicep, squeeze/move/open/close as needed to raise the heel of the stock. If I have to raise the rear of the stock quite a bit, I'll grab my bicep with my claw hand. Pointed bottom of the stock sits in the web betweem my thumb and forefinger, pushed up against my bicep. If I need the rear of the stock low, I'll turn my hand palm UP and cradle the stock with my open hand, moving it up/down as needed with fingertips. Very, very stable. One less piece of equipment to need/buy/make/lose etc.

Re: ARE YOU A BAG SQUEEZER?

Balancing squeeze and cheek weld pressure seems to result in best consistency for me.

Re: ARE YOU A BAG SQUEEZER?

I do squeeze for elevation.
But, I do what ever it takes to get the shot off.

When getting shots off under time or pressure I will squeeze the rear bag. On a bench or if I have all day I will just slide my v bag for elevation.

I used to use a bean bag but lately I've been simply holding it to my shoulder... maybe that is my problem? :/
