I'm going to be putting a 8-32x56 NightForce NXS MOAR on the AR50A1 I just ordered and was wondering if the one piece Armalite high 30mm mount 1.45" or the NightForce extra high steel rings 1.375" would be better? I did have the standard Armalite one peice mount 1.25" on my last AR50 (not A1) and it has hard to get a sight picture. Also is opticsplanet the best place to order the NightForce and rings?

Re: Noob? NightForce 8x32-56 NXS MOAR

First, great choice in optic for the AR-50. If you're going to shoot at extended ranges, past 1000m, you may want one of Armalite's MOA bases.

I would suggest Badger MAX-50 rings instead of the nightforce. Weight isn't an issue on that rig...it's over 40lbs with the optics, so buy some good steel rings. The max-50s offer 6 screw tops and I've run them on my own AR-50 and a light weight 50BMG I'm running now.

For a competitive price...I'd recommend Triad Tactical for your purchase. I think you'll find their pricing and customer service next to none.

Enjoy the .50!

Re: Noob? NightForce 8x32-56 NXS MOAR

Thanks, I will probably max out at 1000 to 1200 yards mostly 1000 yard matches. The reason I started looking at the NightForce rings is for the Top Half of Ring w/ Level & Mount for Angle Degree Indicator. Also If I order the scope from OpticsPlanet for $1899 I would get $100 gift card to help pay for the ring setup.

Re: Noob? NightForce 8x32-56 NXS MOAR

If I can find the scope I'm looking for for $1799 I think it would be better to run the badger rings.

Would the one piece Armalite high 30mm mount (1.45") for the NightForce be a bad choice? Or are the Max-50 rings just that much better?
