There was a thread about some Winchester primers that were leaking because of micro cracks in the cups .Any one have a link to that thread ? Arnie

Re: Bad Winchester primers

That was my thread. Use the search for Leaking Primers & it should pop up. In a nutshell Winchester supposedly tested the 10 they asked for, & told me they "were within industry standard" & sent me a couple $20 certificates. But wouldn't do anything about the flame cut boltface. Since switching lots, I have loaded, & fired several hundred of the same load with no problems.

Re: Bad Winchester primers

I also torched the bolt face on a 300WM & 300RUM with winchester magnum primers. I'll never use them Again!!! I went to CCI 250 Magnums with the same loads & no more Problems?

Re: Bad Winchester primers

Thanks Bigwheels , I found it once i knew what the original thread was titled .This happened to a friend of mine today ,twice .Luckily the bolt head is a seprate part and can be replaced easily . Arnie

Re: Bad Winchester primers

I'll switch too once the 3K I have left are gone. Debating on cci or federal. They pi$$d me off but I had fired over 5K before I had a problem so by the time I've gone through the ones I have I'll have forgiven them. But probably not. I think I want to use a magnum match primer next.
