Looking for a precision gunsmith within a half days drive or less or so from Bay City (70 miles SW of Houston). Has to be willing to work with me on barrel/component choice. I happen to like Lothar-Walther barrels and I've had one nationally known benchrest smith refuse to chamber one.

Don't need an amateur to, for instance, break off a recoil lug pin. Or bugger up a perfectly good trigger that I didn't want touched in the first place. You get the picture. A serious professional precision gunsmith.

I might add I prefer through the headstock chambering.

Regards

Rust, Check out R&M Guns in El Campo. I have done alot of business there both professionally (ammo purchases for department) and privately. The gunsmith there, Mark, is top notch.

I will throw another pitch in for Bobby Pitchford. He has done some work for me, great guy to work with.

check out William Roscoe, Louisiana Precision Rifles. He builds a nice rifle, drive might be a bit far to Shreveport

Thanks for the info guys. Everyone else feel free to throw in your two cents.

Plan is to re-rebuild a .223 700 VS-SF that ended up a little less than satisfactory last time. Setting it up for 300 yard reduced target F/TR. It would be nice to see a strike in the center of a primer again. Also want to polish the interior of the bolt, re-skim bed the action, check the receiver for true etc.

Just looking up the same info, but no need to now. I haven't used him but talked to him. This is THE guy.

I've worked with the man directly when I worked at Briley...not only a great smith but a good man.

Has anyone heard of Ranger Point Precision in Cypress, TX? I was given their card by Tactical Firearms in Katy. Unfortunately I have to have a rifle hydrographics job fixed that I got from Tactical Rifles in FL. I got burned by TR and want to make sure I don't get burned again. Any help any of you can give me would be great.

I don't know if Bobby can hydro dip but he can point you in the right directly

I'll cast another vote for Aaron Roberts. He has done work on our department issued rifles and our personal rifles as well.
He does top notch work and is a great guy to deal with.
