WHICH ONE >_< I'm leaning towards a 9mm for an in between a .45 1911 and a walther pps. Maybe used for carry with the proper attire.

.357 SIG, and then you can invest in a .40 barrel/slide (the magazine and slide is the same for .357 SIG, but the sights are off), and a 9MM barrel and magazines. You can't go up in caliber from a dedicated 9MM slide, but you can go down from the .40/.357 SIG.

That is a good idea. Although I am having trouble locating an elite dark in .40 or .357 sig. Any ideas?

I wouldn't piss about looking for flavor of the month SIGs right now. Were it me, I'd just jump into a decent CPO P229, even a pre-rail, and worry about designer ones later.

I have pistols in both calibers. I have a Sig P226 in 9mm and love it. I feel like the 9mm is much easier to control and cheaper to shoot (granted its nearly impossible to find now). If I had to go bigger I would go 357 sig. Either way sig makes a mean handgun no matter the caliber. Just my opinion

.40's don't offer much over 9mm with good quality defensive ammo.

Well they do offer more broken parts and snappier recoil....

get the .40 I own one and its my EDC . I also own alot of sigs P230 ,p232, p238, 228, 229, 1911 ultra ,1911 fastback carry, and a walther ppq ,

I have been looking at a P229 to replace the stolen 45 I had. I won't go 9mm right now as you can not get ammo right now around here. The stores have pretty sold out of everything too so selection is not the greatest. At least I see Sig shipping pistols to my area regulalrly. Keep checking and you will find what you are looking for.

I carry a P229 DAK .40 as a duty weapon and love it even with my bigger hands, it fits nicely and works great. Plus in the current market, .40 is waaay easier to find now.

I agree with the .357/ .40 The 357 SIG is an awesome round albeit a bit expensive. I sold my 229 elite in 40 simply because it was too heavy to carry. If you're going to get a carry gun I would get a SAS. Or if you decide on a 9mm then go with an M11A1. I'm not a fan of the rails on SIGs.
I carry an M11 for work and it rides without issue, I did however switch to 1911 commander bobtail as my personal carry piece.
