Just bought a Bushnell 3.5-21x50 G2DMR scope. Pretty excited about this. One thing I didn't think about were rings. Are their any sub $100 rings in 34mm? Most I've seen so far are Badger and night force that are $150+. Will go there if I have to but wasn't planning on spending so much.

Only saw a pair of Warne permanently attached rings for under $100

Re: 34mm ring recommendations?

You just spent a decent amount of money on a good scope. Don't skimp on rings. Buy a set of Seekins.

Re: 34mm ring recommendations?

haha, i knew that was going to be the answer before I even posted.

If I go seekins what is the difference between the 4 screw and 4/6 screw models? Any benefit to the 4/6 over the 4?

Just looked quick and didn't see any 34mm rings. They look like nice rings though.

Is there really that much difference in say a Seekins ring @ $140 and a Badger at $200 or a Sphur @ $380?

Sorry if they are dumb questions but pretty new to buying this stuff so I have very limited experience in handling them. Just trying to weight out cost/benefits. I want to do it right the first time.

Also if it helps I'm mostly going to be shooting off a bench at known distances. (.308 for right now but already thinking about building a second rifle). I want to do some tactical rifle stuff eventually but that would require a lot of travel as NE sucks for that type of thing. Plus I need to work on the basics right now most importantly.

Re: 34mm ring recommendations?

Due to my in person experiences with Badger, I buy their products if they offer what I need. They have been superb.

Re: 34mm ring recommendations?

I have the same scope on my trg and used seekins rings. They are rock solid and extremely well made. its worth the cost. Scott at liberty optics got them for me very fast. I think they are only making the 4 screw rings now and they are more than strong enough.

Re: 34mm ring recommendations?

I know its a little higher than you want, but my recommendation would be for the M10 rings from american rifle co. http://americanrifle.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=13&idcategory=2 I have some on my Razor and they are phenomenal. Extremely well built and extremely precise. I find they are easier to torque without rotating the scope like most 4 or 6 screw designs do.

Re: 34mm ring recommendations?

Buy some quality rings. I use Seekins but any of the reputable brands are good.

I have used them in the 30mm size and they are nice rings. No lapping needed and nicely machined. Couple of things I don't like is the big base nut and the narrow clamping surface, although I never had any slippage.

Re: 34mm ring recommendations?

I guess it seems like an easy choice Seekins it is. Will probably go seekins base and seekins rings now. The last piece to my build. Hopefully I can get them in the next few weeks.

Re: 34mm ring recommendations?

I use TPS and Seekins for all of rings (to bad the don't offer complete mounts). TPS is good and Seekins is great.

More ring on the tube but the standard 4/4 works just fine. It's what I use on my rifles up to 300WM with heavy scopes and no movement. Seekins are excellent rings.

I think you might be mistaken here. All the TPS ring (1" and 30mm) that I use have a smaller head size on the nut, 7/16 compared to most which are 1/2. Would much rather see the double torx cap screws though.

Re: 34mm ring recommendations?

So another question before I place my order. What about one piece mounts like the La Rue? Or are these only for AR's. I know that is what I ran on my AR's (and I think everyone i've seen who runs an optic) before but I swear I've seen some on bolt guns. Or are they going to be to high?

Still think Seekins wins out but it seems like no one has them right now.

Re: 34mm ring recommendations?

Talley's new tactical rings are great, they use locking lugs.

I know. I am finding that out right now. They are out of stock everywhere. Gonna make some calls, if not going to have to go another direction.

Re: 34mm ring recommendations?

Try and call Seekins direct.

Re: 34mm ring recommendations?

I'm running a couple of sets of Spuhr rings on my .308 & .223
Nice stuff and MHSA was G2G,

Re: 34mm ring recommendations?

Going to call seekin today how are vortex rings? They look similar to seekins and are in stock.

Re: 34mm ring recommendations?

Precision Reflexes are near your price point and pretty good:

I also have a set of PRI 34's I never used. They came with a riflescope that I purchased that I can sell to you for $70 shipped. The one I have is the steel ones that go for $158 new. I simply don't need them and can part with them cheap. Better they server their intended purpose than collect dust in my drawer.

Re: 34mm ring recommendations?

I have used them all and my money goes to APA now.

Re: 34mm ring recommendations?

I dont think Vortex makes a 34mm ring, only the 30mm and 35mm.

I just bought the ARC M10's from Ted and they are top notch, also his customer service is outstanding.

Recommend you also look at the American Rifle Company rings. They make a 34mm that are very impressive. They are slightly more than your quoted price range but they are excellent rings. I run them on two Premier Reticle scopes and have recommended them to my "gun nut" brother who has fallen in love with them too. Something to consider as another option.

I've honestly never had a problem with Warne 30mm's. I have a Leupold mk6 3-18x and I'm going to set it in 34mm Warne's once my rifle gets back from Chad.

I could see them being weaker than others in the case of your rifle getting dropped or thrown from a helicopter or something crazy, but for general use they're cheaper and lighter. If they fail, $65 lesson I guess, but based on my previous experience with them I seriously doubt they will.
