So I got my new HDMR today for my Surgeon that should be getting here soon. I love this scope but am having a hard time finding some QD rings for it. I normally use Larue, but their QD scope rings are all 30mm. I am looking at an LT111 but prefer rings to a mount if possible. My Surgeon will have an AICS 2.0 folder so it has adjustable cheek piece if I have to use a higher mount.

Thanks.

Re: Quick Detach mounts for HDMR

I'm in the same boat...I bought a Spuhr and a AI mount for my HDMR, just did'nt like the way it was on my rifle...might be the perfect setup on a different rig....I just ordered a American Defense SL mount that is pretty low...If you want to try the 34mm AI or Spuhr I have them for sale in the optics section...Good luck...

See the PROM there... will clear on a flat top also.</div></div>

I guess that makes me a sucker because I purchased one to mount my NXS on the POF.

Re: Quick Detach mounts for HDMR

Lowlight, that looks like a nice mount. What makes it worth 300 dollars more than a Larue? I don't mind spending money (this is for a Surgeon) but don't throw it away.

Thanks a ton,
Kurt

Re: Quick Detach mounts for HDMR

If you consider it throwing money away, get a Larue, he makes 34mm QD mounts. Look harder on his site, they are there.

Let's look at something else, for the best rings you could get you have Badger. These have been the standard for years, and back when people spent $1000 or less for a 700PSS and $800 to $1200 for a Leupold Mk4 they were still $200 for the rings. A custom rifle starting out set you back $2500. Today you have $4000+ custom rifles, more if you get an AI, heck your Surgeon action alone is $1400, and you can get scopes that cost as much as $3600. But now you want a quick detach mount, one piece, moving parts, with I am sure repeat-ability but figure a $200 or less mount is gonna be up to the standard of your rifle. That is essentially what you are telling me.

A mount, designed around an AR15 platform, used more often then not inside 100 yards where errors are hidden, which might, just might be shot to 300 yards is the solution you feel comfortable with on your Surgeon. You want 1/4 minute accuracy I am sure and yet will put a 1 Minute mount on it? Heck give it 3/4 minute....Nothing wrong with that at all by most people. I say buy two and enjoy the extra hundred saved, steaks for your dust.

Re: Quick Detach mounts for HDMR

Aren't the Badger rings QD? I switch mine up all the time.

Not quite, too many flicks of the wrist. But I switch mine around all the time too.

That is why I was asking for the info. I wasn't saying it was throwing money away, was just wondering if there was really a huge difference. I bought the Surgeon to push it past 1000. You make a good point about the mount being the weak link between my $4000+ custom rifle and $1600 optics..

Now I just need to figure out if it is REALLY 8-10 weeks for delivery..

Re: Quick Detach mounts for HDMR

For what it's worth, I bought my GDI P-ROM 0MOA during the group buy (ordered 21-March). I just got an email this morning from GDI saying they got an unexpected military contract they're fulfilling and have pushed the new delivery date out to mid-July. Good for our boys downrange, bad for us looking forward to playtime. That's a 16-17 week lead time...but considering the discount I'll continue to wait

Re: Quick Detach mounts for HDMR

I have always liked the Bobro mount. IMO, it has the best lever locking system on the market.

Re: Quick Detach mounts for HDMR

I got the same email so I went and ordered a Spuhr to hold me over...

Lowlight shows me how to be poor but happy. :p

Re: Quick Detach mounts for HDMR

This sport/website has me looking for change in the couch cushions.

Re: Quick Detach mounts for HDMR

I use the bobro. Recently shot a five round 100 yd group removing the scope before each shot. (required new cheek weld each shot). Overall group was .667" with a called flyer. The rest of the group was .447". And that's out of a standard rem 700pss with over 7k on the barrel using fed gm 168's

Re: Quick Detach mounts for HDMR

And using the bobro with an aics you will likely need to up your cheek piece. Mine is pretty high but partly due to the pri NV rail.

Re: Quick Detach mounts for HDMR

I do not like the unsupported overhang of the front mount on the Brobo unit. With a large objective and a high recoil the objective could whip up and down probably not an issue on a 223 or 308 though . Thats just me but there it is.

Re: Quick Detach mounts for HDMR

GDI mounts rock, they are solid and return to 0 Spot on. For a good QD mount for a good price I recommend the ADM.

We try to keep the ADM in stock. we should have more in stock soon. And we are looking at stocking the GDI.
