Took the plunge on one of these because good smiths are a rarity around here and I like shoot a lot of barrel burners.

I feel good knowing that it's a Stiller-made action, so quality should be excellent. Have a 243 barrel and a T5A with an MCS waiting for it. While I was on the phone with em, I ordered their competition trigger as well. They offered to install it free of charge before the action ships.

There hasn't been much talk about the Shilen actions, but if anyone here has experience with em, or their comp trigger for that matter, feel free to chime in.

Here to resurrect a thread from the past.

It's been 14 mo. How has the Shilen DGR worked? I've been interested in this action for the same reasons, but can't find much out there on them.

I took a leap of faith for the same reason. It feels and shoots like a Stiller with a quick change barrel so I'm happy.

Does anybody else have experience with the Shilen DGR? Love the idea of using the Savage drop in barrels

Love my DGR!! I ran a savage bull contour in 223 Wylde with an 8 twist, and it stacks everything I have put through it.

How to the bolt smoothness compare to say, other comparable custom actions or 700 actions?

This has me rather interested. So it fits a standard 700 stock? And takes a 700 trigger and bottom metal? For the barrels, you can use any Savage small shank pre-fits?

That sums it up. I used a timney 510, a BC Medalist tac. for a SA 700, and inletted for badger dbm. Everything fits as it should.
