I was hoping to see if anyone here makes, or knows someone who has made complete MRP-type barrels. I have been wanting to get ahold of one in 300 BLK, but there is obviously a bottleneck in the system at the moment.

Just got one from Oakland Tactical last week and have seen several on Gunbroker lately. From what I heard LMT did a run of about 100 so there are some floating around.

excuse my ignorance but, MRP type barrels? can you explain what that is

LMT makes a special upper called the MRP (Monolithic Rail Platform).
It uses a propriatary barrel extension.
It also has the ability to quick change the barrels.

In order to install a barrel into an MRP, it needs to be an MRP barrel.
You can also modify a standard AR-15 barrel by adding on a spacer forward of the standard barrel extension, milling the slot for the locking screw and removing the indexing pin.

Here is an MRP barrel extension:

So, is there a way to get one without getting raped? I would appreciate any help I can get.

Bump..

I've had interest in ANY barrels for MRP LMT rifles for a bit now. The only place I remember besides LMT was DBGM or some acronym. But from what I've read they had a backlog and shit happened or something. But the end result was shitty..

SO yeah, MRP in 300blk, or even a 556 18ss or 22'' would be nice to swap out.

Looks like the ones at Oakland Tactical are now gone but I am watching two on Gunbroker right now that have only hours left and still in the mid-$400 range so I guess it depends how you define rape and how much it is worth to you.

Months before the craze, Quantico Tactical here in Tacoma had a Piston 16'' with BCG for $600. Not sure what just a standard DI barrel went for..

The reason you don't really see much aftermarket support of the MRP is that LMT will not sell the special barrel extensions.
the other way to make a barrel for the, involves starting with a large diameter blank and profiling it to leave the chunk there in front of a standard barrel extension.
Lastly, you can sleeve up a standard barrel.

I do this kind of work, but I don't advertise it here as I am not a vendor here.
An email to me might get a good response though.
