Just wondering if anyone has any experience with the S&B 12-50x56 scope. It appears to be a really cool piece of machinery but not sure what I will use it for. The bottom of 12x makes it tough for most any field uses. I guess F class shooters use them a bit. Just wondering what to do with it.

Even thought it's part of the PMII line, the specs seem more geared to benchrest shooting. High magnification along with 1/8MOA or 1/4cm turrets doesn't say "tactical" so much to me, but then again I know of a couple guys running these on .338s hoping to get more magnification than the classic 5-25x

i've got a bit of experience with these, you've got the premise right, this is a scope for bench/fclass shooters, it's an awesome scope for that particular application. last time i shot with one, i never had to reduce magnification below 45x, and this was 600-1000 and it was probably about 85 degrees, sun was directly over head, i didn't have much trouble at all despite the conditions.

I have one of these scopes and they are really nice. Its currently on my 6BR. I will have to agree that it is more of a B/R scope than a tactical one. Glass is execellent. Mine has the P4 Fine reticule which I like a lot. I think it would make a great F-Class scope.

I could be wrong but I think it was originally intended for Field Target air rifle competition. Been thinking hard about getting one in FFP mil/mil and using it in FT and on a Benchrest varmint rifle.

I used one of these for over a year. Great scope and more clear than most scopes at 25x when it was zoomed out. It was FFP and had 1/8 MOA Double Turn turrets since they gave you more elevation adjustment than any other configuration. It had the P4F reticle which allowed me to use it at matches without dialing, but was pretty fast when dialing too even though I had to switch to MOA which was kind of a bummer. I didn't even know they made it in Mil adjustment. Damn nice scope but not geared towards match type shooting on my 260 with the mixed turrets, even though I did quite well with it. Was a great scope on my 7mag rig. Also it is long as hell, especially with the sunshade so get ready.
