I just got a crappy letter from MidwayUSA. They canceled the 2 surefire 100s I ordered back on Dec 19. I called and asked if they could substitute 60's for the 100's, however "their system doesn't allow that". I had 2 of each on backorder. I could have purchased 100's many times since I placed that order. I understand that somethings are out of their control, but how they handled this blows. Maybe it had something to do with the price they had them sold to me and everybody else, 125 each. I give them credit for not price gouging like those bastards at CtD, however not having an option other then saying sorry isn't the way I would have guessed for them to handle this. Lets see if they cancel the 60's once they see they have them sold at 90 each.

Am I just being just a whiny little bitch or do I have the right to be pissed off?

Whatever happens from here, Brownells will be getting a bigger percentage of my gun/fun $ from now on.

Dear Steve,
You are receiving this communication because we have cancelled your backorder on MidwayUSA product number 170129 - Surefire MAG5-100 Magazine AR-15 223 Remington 100-Round Aluminum Matte.
In the current political environment, we understand that this item is very desirable. We have been working with Surefire to understand the availability of this item, however based upon information we have recently received from Surefire, we no longer believe they will be able to fill our orders within the next 12 months, and probably not within the next 24. We are very sorry that we have been unable to get this product and apologize for any inconvenience this backorder cancellation may cause.
You also had other items outstanding on the same backorder as the Surefire magazine(s). Your remaining items will ship out together as soon as they’re all in stock.
Please sign in and visit Order Management on our website to view your pending backorders. For all pending backorders, please ensure your credit card information is valid and that the card is not expired. If you no longer want certain items, feel free to cancel them. If some are in stock and waiting to ship complete, you can release them by visiting your shopping cart where they will be listed under the "Backordered Products Available to Ship" heading. Just add them to your cart, check out as usual and we’ll ship them to you right away.
Sincerely,

MidwayUSA

If they just found out they won't likely get them for at least a couple years, at least they let you know. I might have left the backorders in place, but I can't blame them for cancelling an item they know they won't get this year and may not ever receive.

I agree, at least they let me know. However they still have them listed but as temporarily unavailable, why not leave the order in. I say they are cutting their losses.

Be happy, you saved 250 bucks and you won't have a donkey dick hanging out of the bottom of your gun, with today's prices on pmags you could still get 10 of them....

It gets weirder, I called Surefire to check on an order I had placed directly with them. I asked Mathew about the cancellation and he told me "he has been getting lots of calls about it, and Midway is the only distributor that canceled the back orders. They are still making them and will probably have them in June. They had them ordered at the old price, so that isn't an issue. Surefire doesn't know why they canceled the backorders.

I was just about to ask "why?" Surefire could not deliver to Midway within 12 to 24 months but there is my answer. As far as I know, Midway has always been a fair player. Can someone come up with some kind of an explanation?
Good shooting.

What state is Midwayusa in? Look at any impending state laws on the books. They might be caving into some sort of impending magazine legislation.

As far as I know, MidwayUSA join the list of the New York Boycott Participants on 2/22/13, so it does not look like they are caving in but it still doesn't say why they are cancelling all of these back orders.
Good shooting.
