Absolutely. They work well, and you will notice the head of your brass getting hammered less with the same load as well.
I use a heavy buffer in my DPMS LR308 and notice the difference, I am pleased with it.
I do plan on doing the adjustable gas block as well but I thought I would start with the buffer first. Do you guys have any issues with running the heavy buffer when not using the can?

I run the heavy buffer on my LMT MWS w/20" barrel suppressed and unsuppressed with no issues whatsoever. You will not be disappointed with a heavy buffer.
Run a Slash Heavy buffer on my POF .308, have had it in since it was built so I really can't compare to not using it . It runs suppressed and unsuppressed flawlessly though.
Those are primarily the "heavy buffers" I run although I do have a couple ST-T2 buffers and some others that I run as well. I don't have any issues running suppressed and unsuppressed with any of Clint's buffers in any variety of AR-15s and .308 ARs, including piston operated rifles (shooting my reloads and primarily match grade commercial ammo...no subs or lightweight stuff which likely wouldn't cycle properly anyway). If you have any questions or concerns before you buy or what the best options are for your particular setup, give Clint a shout by e-mail. He is a walking encyclopedia of knowledge on the various AR platforms' gas systems, operation suppressed and unsuppressed, etc. He'll help point you in the right direction.

I agree with everyone else. most guns are over gassed. I have a few and they do improve function especially with a suppressor, all of mine are slash heavy buffers. One gun that didn't is my noveske with a switch block. seems that it was made and tuned correctly at the factory. You get what you pay for go figure.
Heavier buffers treat the symptoms of too much gas, but result in more operating mass and felt recoil. The adjustable gas block treats the cause of the problem by allowing you to reduce the gas getting to the operating system.
I'm a fan of the Syrac Ordnance adjustable gas block. It is adjustable from the front and has detents in the adjustment screw.

I do plan on doing an Adjustable block as well. However the barrell profile is .875 and I need ot keep the pic rail on it so I can swap in the Irons to shoot LR Service Rifle matches. I will likely have my Gunsmith modify it since I cannot find and Adjustable or seletable in .875 w/ pic rail... If anyone knows of one please post the link..
I think PRI makes an adjustable gas block for .875 barrels, but it does not have the features I described for the Syrac. Also, don't know if the physical dimensions of the PRI would work for you.
I have looked at that one, but it does not have PIC rail for my irons... Maybe I will quit trying to make this rifle do too many things an buy a Palma Rifle for LR Matches..
I just got to make sure I don't get divorced in the process.Just thought I would post a follow up. I got a heavy buffer from Heavybuffers.com and I got to the range yesterday. I don't have my can yet so I was shooting unsuppressed. The gun ran w/o any issues and the brass was all in a nice neat pile next to me.. Recoil felt slightly lighter.

I've run Slash's 6.5oz, Enidine Hydraulic and JP Silent Captured buffers in my suppressed GAP-10's... So far my favorite is the JP, but the Slash 6.5 and Enidine worked well.
Call Slash and ask him.
I had gotten, from Krieger, one of their heavy profile AR-10 barrels finished at 26" for the 6.5 Creedmoor. The brass and ejection pattern with factory Hornady 140gr ammo during break in and the first match I shot could have been better. My gas gun experience is only from shooting service rifle. I like reusable brass in a small pile. The brass was not getting damaged but it looked like it would not make as many reloadings as I like and the ejection pattern could have been more consistent. I was wanting this gun to shoot factory ammo in addition to hand loads. After speaking with Hornady I decided to call Clint(Slash) and see what he had to offer. I bought the buffer he suggested and am very satisfied. I now get a nice pile of very reuseable brass. Between the barrel and buffer a ten year safe queen is now in the front row. If only there wasn't a run on components ...

I just received a CAR10-XH from Clint Butler (Heavybuffers.com). It's installed but I haven't test fired it yet. I will say, however, that Clint is a great guy to do business with. There was a slight error in the shipment, but Clint rectified it instantly, no questions asked. If his products are as good as his customer service I know I'll be happy with the buffer's performance.

I was thinking of getting a JP Silent Captured buffer for my GAP-10. Is yours installed in a rifle with the switchblock? I was concerned it might change the tuning that GAP did for my suppressor and cause reliability issues. I'm not trying to fix something that "ain't broke" but if I could stop the fingernails on the chalkboard...
I chose not to go with the heavy buffer but rather the JP silent capruted spring. Combined with a JP Adjustable Gas System, it is nice.
Out of curiosity how much gas do you have turned out on the block? I have a dpms 260 that I decided to suppress and it's been constant issues ever since. I have jp captured spring, jp adj has block, and a new jp barrel just installed. It keeps not going into battery all the way. Bump the forward assist and it goes forward. I'm wondering if I just haven't gotten to the right point on the gas block.
yfzjen, I began with about 1 turn out from full in and turned it out in 1/4 turns until it cycled. If you are allowing enough gas to cycle the next round, I don't know why you would have problems getting back to fully locked just based on gas. Reloads? Are the cases deformed? Did you try a diff mag and diff ammo? What happens with a standard buffer in place of the jp captured spring?
Yea I'm going to grab up all the parts and do some testing. I have the old spring and a David tubs spring and then the Jo captured spring. I do use reloads and they have worked up until suppression, no deformed cases, have tried different mags also.
