I was thinking maybe a vortex crossfire ii?

Any recommendations, it only needs to have good eye relief and decent glass. trying to keep it under $200

Under 200 bucks, Id defintally pick the crossfire 2. When reading reviews make sure your reading about the crossfire 2. they somtimes get a bad name from folks confusing them with the original crossfire

Mueller APT is good choice too. Under two hundred, focus down to 25 yards, and mildot reticle with 30mm tube.

I went a little overboard but wanted a ffp so I went with the Bushnell BUSET6245FG from Liberty Optics. The optics are excellent for the price point plus the reticle and knobs/clicks are great as well.
You won't find a better guy to deal with either!

Mueller is real good for the price point. I picked up a BSA platinum for kicks and mounted it on my sons CZ452. It seems fine but will see this weekend when we tak it out

If you like a high power clear scope and like to gamble, Osprey makes a clear scopes with plenty of power. Problem is, you might have to return it as many have had problems as have I. Got mine at gun show and the seller replaced it no charge. I have the Osprey Tactical Rifle Scope 30mm Tube 6-24x 50mm Side Focus Illuminated Rangefinder Reticle Matte with Rings. Its on my 6.5x55 but If I ever get a bolt action 22 I would use this or other one of their scopes as the optics are clear for my eye. I have problems with chromatic aberration and the only scopes they I don't have problems with chromatic aberration is the high end Euro scopes and the Osprey. Wish they were made better but for the money, its a great cheapo scope.
The reticle on mine got loose. New one had the lock nuts on the side nobs loosened up and gave me a scare till I tightened them down.

I have a SWFA 16x SS and so far I like it. I have a Mueller also and it's an okay scope for the money. I've shot it out to 100yd's on a 10-22.

Better at 1/1oth the price? You bet.

I have two of these on .22s and they are great for the money.

I've been using a Millet TRS-1 mil/mil and so far it's working out pretty well. Got it used here on the Hide for under $200.

Mine is wearing a Tasco 10x40x50 with a target dot retical. It's cheep and seams to hold zero pretty good. At 50 yds the 1" bull looks HUGE !!! Glass is pretty clear so I have no complaints with this setup. To me you can't have enough power in a scope.

I'll give another vote for the Mueller APT Tactical. For the money, I don't think you can do better for a rimfire optic.

Until you have to find a moving target at closer range... then your FOV is too small.

Yes you are correct, I should have said for target shooting. For hunting small game at close range this scope is not a good choice. For target shooting the bigger the 10 ring is the better for me. With the scope cranked to 40x the 1" bull totally fills the sight picture at 50 yds. It's much easier to get the exact same aiming point with the bull so large in your scope. There are a lot of draw backs with this scope, not the best glass and has limited adjustment but for the money it's not a bad choice IMHO....
