Re: reno members?

Hey Tyler, Claude here from Reno. Wondering how many of us are around here?

Re: reno members?

Well from the looks of it there is only Claude and I here in reno with an interest in shooting long range. Does any one have any ideas to help me grow interest here in reno? The great part of living and shooting here in reno is there is no shortage of amazing places to shoot and hone skills. Please we need help. Thank you tyler

Re: reno members?

You could have the long range target camera guy from Reno demo his wares. Sounds worthy of a road trip to me!

If you're interested March 9th is a Short Range/Walking Varmint shoot at the Palomino Gun Range. We shoot 40 rounds for score, it is 20 rounds off hand and 20 sitting. The furthest target is a 200 yard Coyote. As your coming into the Club house we are the farthest range to the left.
Setup usually starts at 7:30 and shooting generally about 9:00.

Here is some of the Targets we shoot.

I'm really looking forward to Part Two. My goal this year is a mile shot with 6mm or 6.5mm. Are you shooting on Lake Winnemucca, up by Pyramid Lake, on the Palomino rifle range or where? The video stuff is just great.

PS Would you guys post your MVs and bullet types? I'm betting on a 115DTAC @ 2,970fps going to a mile, although a 139Scenar could do it with enough MV and 4800' ASL.

I'm happy to see some more replies. I was just at the the washoe range shooting and was watching some if the 1000 yard target shooting from the palomino gun club. Would any one be interested in a meet up at the range? To talk and shoot.

I would be interested in an informal, long-range shooting group - I'm in Minden. There are many aspects to consider and prepare for before we could duplicate what Chuck and Scotty are doing at over 1kyd - locate a good shooting site, acquire large steel targets and install suspensions, aquire a target video camera system good to over a mile, spotting scopes, shooting spots at specific distances and so on. They make it look easy, but there was a tremendous amount of prep that went into the video and even more for Part 2 when it comes online.

I agree a long range shooting group would be a good thing. We have plenty of places to shoot over 1k
Remember that the ad hoc shooting range and access to it cannot be on Indian reservation property. No guns on Indian land. There are multiple possibilities, we just have to scout them out.

I'm in Reno. Long-range shooting group sounds great.

FYI LMS defense has a precision rifle course on 6/3-5. Take a look at their website. I'll be there.

I was in the Reno area last month. I make a few trips to Reno each year. I visited your County range out near the lake and I was impressed, good people, nice atmosphere, six bucks...able to ring some steel to 950 yds. Sometimes I shoot off I 95 south of Ferny when I am in town... I use a dirt bike to ferry targets and repaint when needed. Still a lot of work though.

I'm in Fernley, I am new to the hide and long range shooting. My specialty is pistols, shotguns and Ars. Hit me up if you're ever in Fernley.

Im coming up from the Bay area for the Reno air races this weekend. If anybody is gonna be doing some LR shooting, let me know. I plan on going to the Regional facility off 395.
