Im planning on scoping my Mosin Nagant 91/30, and using it for some long range shooting.

I dont mind spending money on good glass, but have to be realistic considering the gun.

At the same time I can always pull the scope and put it on another gun, so I do want to plan a bit for the future.

I would like mildot but am open to other good range estimating scopes.

Im not really sure what I need in a good long range scope as most of my guns I dont shoot out past 100 yards, and this gun I would like to be able to hit out to 3-500 if that's a realistic goal.

Thanks in advance!

There is a big difference between a 48 inch steel gong, and a pepsi can target.

I usually shoot paper targets, probably 2 square feet or so when going for accuracy, but being able to hit milk jugs or something similar in size at closer range would be a plus.

I guess more the question would be things like 1" vs 30mm, what size scope, how much zoom is enough and whats overkill for the rifle.

I know I want the ability to make adjustments without a screwdriver, and would like a solid scope that will last, rather than a walmart special, although I dont want to be putting glitter on a turd and get a scope that my rifle will never be able to use to its fullest.

Knowing target size helps with those decisions.

I dont now and wont ever own a 1inch tube, somthing in the 2.5-10 zoom range would work for your appliciations.

mabye look at this scope

That vortex is a tad out of my price range for this build...ive been looking at the

SWFA Super Sniper 6x42 without the illuminated reticle...seen them used for under 300, and new right at the 300 mark.

Reviews seem positive for them...
