I am looking at getting a Criterion 20" HBAR barrel and I was wondering if anyone has experience with these barrels? It says it has a hybrid chamber and it is "match quality"

Criterion have a good rep as barrels for bolt guns. They are the button rifled barrels for kreiger. I run a 6brx krieger in a bolt gun and it is scary accurate. I would imagine the barrel to be a great shooter.

Thats all my buddy uses on all of his builds. He has won nearly all the local coyote comps and some serious local long distance shoots like the vortex extreme and top gun from spirit ridge. I'm planning on buying a 243 barrel later this year from them. All i have heard is good things. So my 2 cents are yes they are a great barrel. But thats not saying that every other barrel maker isn't awesome either. I currently have a shilen (spelling?) and its as accurate as i ever wanted. The only thing holding it back is me. For the price i think the criterions are hard to beat. Best of luck and hope you like what ever you get.

Thanks for the responses, I guess I will get one for my build and try it out.

I have a friend that just picked one up for a NM upper build to start shooting CMP comps again. When he gives some feedback I'll try to pass it along.

Criterions are button rifled barrels built BY Krieger. They are marketed under a different name so people don't get confused as to whether they got button or cut rifled barrels. Krieger still feels their cut rifled barrels are the best way to get accuracy. But, many needing very good and not the highest notch of accuracy would like a button rifled barrel.
I have found them (and Shilen) to be outstanding barrels.

If I recall correctly, Criterion AR15 barrels have non-M4 feedramps. Keep that in mind if you're putting this barrel on an upper with M4 feedramps. That's the reason I didn't end up getting one.

I stand corrected. Thanks. I was informed by Fulton Armory last year that their Criterion barrels did not have M4 ramps. Maybe newer models have M4 ramps?

I hope they do or else I'll have to return a barrel that I'm sure ill have to wait at least a couple weeks for.

Criterion and Krieger barrels are not made by the same people, nor owned by the same people. Although they are a close knit group, they are not one company and are in no way technically affiliated. I know both personally as I used to be in the rifle barrel business. That being said, they are phenominal barrels for the cost.
