Is it possible to get a factory threaded barrel with muzzle brake or will it need to be shipped to a smith to get that part taken care of? I really like my .308 I bought recently and wanting to get a .243 so I can get the wife shooting. I want a braked .243 to make sure the recoil isn't too much for her.

Not sure exactly what your looking for or how long you would be willing wait but ershaw lets you pick and choose a few things.

With the proper barrel changing equipment I'm pretty sure changing factory barrels is as simple as threading one off and the new one on. A set of go, no-go gauges to check headspace and there you go.

I just ordered a part for my AI AE MK I last week from Mile High and when I spoke with Melissa I asked if they had a 6.5 CM barrel on the shelf and they didn't. Might want to ask about a .243. You might get lucky.

In the mean time, check out LoneWolfUSMC's vid of him changing his AE MK III's barrel from .308 to .243 vid below. He does what you are asking about with a non-factory Krieger barrel cut for an AE and bought from Mile High.

Contact Mile High shooting. They have barrels for your MK3. They also can thread the muzzle for a brake.

I sent them an email last week about getting an AI with the .243 barrel and still waiting an answer.

Bartllein barrels I think are making all of the North American delivered non-308 caliber's

Bradu, I would give them a call. BTw a guy by the name of Dave Tooley is taking care of the barrel work for AI the last I heard.
