What scope are you guys running on the 17hmr bolt guns? Iwant something that does the job but won’t kill the bank.

I am looking for the same thing right now. A few of my friends have this: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/456482/bsa-tactical-mil-mil-rifle-scope-30mm-tube-4-14x-44mm-side-focus-1-10-mil-adjustments-first-focal-mrad-reticle-matte

And have been very happy with it. I have slight reservations about buying a BSA scope but they ran tracking tests, etc and it did real well so I'm kinda interested. Also since its only going on a rim fire it wont be getting to much abuse. Plus since its mil/mil with a mil hash reticle it would be good practice for my real rifle. Just a thought

I run a Vortex Crossfire 4-12 with fine crosshair on mine. The fine reticle is nice for shooting smaller critters at distance.

I have a Savage 22mag that I put a Leupold VX-I 4-12 on, very happy with it, Shoot Prairie Dogs all day long with it. I would also recommend a Redfield if your after something a little cheaper. I had some BSA Platinum scopes before and the glass quality just isn't there. One last thought is a Mueller brand scope. I have one of these on my 22lr comp rifle for 50BR matches. Glass is REALLY clear and it wont break the bank.

Hope this helps

How big is the bank your trying to keep from breaking? Donald trump's idea of break the bank and mine are alot diffrent.

I had one of he midway exclusive BSA tacticals on my .17hmr for a while it was great but in the end I replaced it with a vortex viper hs tactical 5-15. I couldn't be happier.

The Midway Weaver Tactical Grand Slam would be another option. I have one of these on my wife's .223 coyote gun and it has performed very well. Good reviews on it also.

I have a BSA Sweet 17 on mine....seems to track well and holds value. I will never buy another BSA again. I just sent one back that was junk off my 308. I ended up buying SWFA SS.
Rimfire I think you would be ok but not on anything else.

I really thought a 4-12 was a good choice but I wanted a fine crosshair, I ended up with a weaver v16, 4-16 fine x dot and love it. Its not side focus though which I wanted. I liked it so much I put 4-20 superslam which has the side focus on a 223 bench gun.
I am not related in any way to the company with the same name

I run a Vortex Viper 6-20x50 with the discontinued target dot reticle.

I can see .17 holes at 200y with it.

I have a Leupold VX1 3x9 on my savage. Im not into dialing distance on a 17. Its a laser at 100yds. And that's really as far as Ill take it. Any further and I step up to my 223.

I've got a Vortex Viper 4-12 x 40 on my Savage. I think it's just about perfect for this rifle and they're really well priced.
