does anyone know anything about American defense qd autolock system? Would you trust them on a 338 lapua?

They make a perfectly decent mount, I'm not sure why you would want a QD on a .338, you're not exactly going to be swapping to iron sights or anything. If the rifle is running a quality brake, it really sholdnt be much of an issue. I would still only go with a double lock base and not a single, and probably 6 screw rings over 4. If you're not running a brake, I probably wouldn't run a QD mount of any variety. That's just my 2 cents.

thanks. I just bought a nightforce scope......thought maybe could use it on my 308 also for a while. both guns have 20 min rails......probably just wishful thinking

Gotcha. As long as you got one of the beefy ones, it should work. I feel you on the running a single piece of glass. Swapping back and forth sucks, but not as bad as buying 2 good scopes if you don't have the cash.
Does your .338 have a brake? If it does it shouldn't be a problem.
If not, maybe a guy that runs w/o a brake can chime in for you. QD mounts have come a long way in the past few years but a .338 can pack some solid recoil.

What size is the tube on your scope?

30mm...it has a fat bastard brake. I love the brake, but it still has plenty of recoil, but not excessive I don't think.
