I used the search, but it still hasn't indexed yet.

How hard, much involvement in rebarrelling a T3?

Any recommended smiths for doing it?

Don't go anywhere near roedale. What a stupid suggestion. The bad press for this chap is out of this world. I will give any one a chance but over the last 7 years its beyond a joke how many excused one man can use.

Any competent smith can barrel a T3 for the same cost at a remmy 700. Even over here in England where we get our pants pulled down for everything.

I'm debating either a .243 or a .308. I don't reload and wouldnt mind a .243 for Deer season and long range steel. Then rebarrelling to .260

Problem is , 243 match ammo seems either very expensive or not available.

Its going in a Whiskey 3 Chasis

x2 on roedale issues. steer clear. get a good barrel, a decent gunsmith and you'll be sorted.

The only "issue" with re-barreling a Tikka is you want to make sure the barrel blank you use has a "smaller" shank area as the Tikka action is a bit small. I use Palma contour barrels for the Tikka. You only have to remove .10-.15 from the chamber area of the barrel so it matches up with the action. If you do not turn it down then it sticks out the sides of the action and looks funky.

The thread is 1-16 TPI.
