I use H4350 for my 243 and get great results from it. It is the only powder I have used to reload my 243. Availability has been awful for months and I might have half a pound left. I see that some places have H1000 and Retumbo in stock locally. Am I going to give anything up making the switch to a new powder from the H4350 or should i just wait as availability creeps back hopefully. Do I need magnum primers to make it work with the Retumbo?

Retumbo isnt a ball powder, so you wouldnt need magnum primers. You could try RE17 or maybe 4000MR, they both work well in my 6mmREM.

H4831SC, you will thank me later... got up to 49gn in my 243AI with out ptrssure signs with 105 bergers on the lands at 3460fps. of course they didnt like to go that fast but high speeds posible with it. 28" pipe by the way.

I have some ramshot hunter inbound, one of these weeks. From everything i have read it works wonderfully and is highly recomended on the varmint/predator sites i go to. Works from 55-107 bullets so im told.

I've used H1000 and Retumbo with my 243 win 105's. Both work great with retumbo being a little faster. I would use mag primers, gives better es/sd numbers. Not necessary, but it helps wit mag primers.

Reloaded 17 or 19 will both work better than retumbo, but I would look for superformance or win 780 before I would use retumbo. I would even be willing to bet retumbo would not have finished burning by the time it exited a 24 inch barrel. I have seen 780, Norma 205, superformance and n160 over the past few weeks, all which would be a better powder than either h1000 or retumbo.

I run 45.5 grains of H1000 in Lapua cases, 105 AMAX on a regular .243 and it has worked great for 1200 rounds so far. Get about 3000 FPS out if a 27" Brux 1-8 twist barrel.

How accurate is your load at distance? And how far u jumping the a-max's?

It does very well at distance. Holds MOA or better out to 1K but that's as far as I shoot it. After that I break out the .338 Lapua or .300WM. I am jumping the Amaxs about .030-.040. They haven't been real picky about where there are in relation to the lands.
