Just got my AI-AX in! Thank you EuroOptics...you guys were great to deal with.
Rifle Specs: AI AX; FDE; 24" Barrel-no brake...yet; 20 MOA rail; Target Butt; Butt Spike. Not sure if this has the Bartlein Barrel, but as far as I know the ones that do come with them are advertised as so...and this one wasn't.
This is the way I received it:

Here she is at the range:

Initial impressions: The reason I wanted the AX is that I had recently got a AX chassis for my Surgeon... I shot it at the Bushnell Brawl and really fell in love with the ergonomics of the chassis. I wanted the best, so, sold my Surgeon and a few other things and here she is...months later. Really impressed with the accuracy of this rifle so far. I'm sure it will only get better as I develop additional loads. I also have a Kreiger .260 barrel threaded and ready to rock. I want to work on the .308 1st and then work up loads for the .260 for competition.

Thanks for looking and I will have additional info to come,
Chance

Re: AI AX First time to range

Thanks Frank! Finally listened to you and your reviews of Accuracy International products and got one for myself.

Is the AX going to be available in LH? I would be a VERY happy man if it is!

It's suppose to be in the works. Just not knowing the date yet. Was told that the right handed models of course came first and the left hand versions would follow.

Re: AI AX First time to range

Mr. Frank Green, is there a marking that your company puts on the barrels sold to AI in order to identify them from the others?

^^^ This of course. And I think the non Bartlein's are all from the UK so they have that proof stamp with the year on them and are likely marked 7.62 and not 308.

Like this picture, non Bartlein... http://demigodllc.com/photo/AI-AWP/small/A100_1631_img.jpg

Re: AI AX First time to range

Finally pulled my .308 barrel off and placed a .260 barrel on the rifle. The .308 barrel does have two places where it is engraved AINA 308 Win, 180 degrees apart. The barrel is a Bartlein for those who were wondering.

Looking forward to that review!!!

Re: AI AX First time to range

Jealous.
That is a sweet rig! Unfortunately, I'm too poor right now to afford one.

I shoot at a range owned by an "old timer"...big time in .50 benchrest. A guy brought an AX .338 to the range a few weeks ago and the guy who owned the range was blown away at the accuracy. He's old school and was amazed that a gun that wasn't full custom was capable of such accuracy. I told him technology has come leaps and bounds.

I think he is actually contemplating purchasing an AX .338 now because he says he has wanted a .338 for a few years now. The rifle made that big of an impression on him.

Re: AI AX First time to range

The best group I have ever made with with a .260 AIAX. The trigger. The bolt throw... AI, I haven't used anything that feels or works as well.

Re: AI AX First time to range

Just the coolest looking rifle and amazing accuracy. Jealous as hell. Congratulations.

I just got the UPS tracking # from Eurooptic on my AX 260.... The only gun I ever wanted more was my Benjamin pellet rifle when I was 10.... 40 years ago.

I will have one of these before I turn 30! My personal midterm goals. Sounds stupid but Im trying to plan for most of the rifles I buy. Just paid off my house, so after I get done with my EMT class and have some free time, I will work OT and buy one of these and a USO 25x.

Sweet set up.

Thanks for all the compliments... The rifle is still shooting awesome. The rifle is now sporting my Kreiger .260 barrel, which was changed in the garage in less than 12 min. I have put the AX through its paces and just last week I shot it in the Bushnell Brawl at Rifles Only. During the match, one of the events consisted of taking a ride in a helicopter, taking a couple of shots from the helo and then being dropped off in a landing zone. From there, you jump in a trench and have to engage targets and crawl through obstacles. You had to be finished by the time the helo arrived for the pick up. We've been in a bad drought down here and the dirt and dust was horrendous during the match. As the helo took off, I was loading my first round in the chamber. It was as if someone took a handful of dirt and threw it in my opened action. I thought, "damn!, I'm not sure if this is going to work". Then I thought, "you know what?, I have an AI...it's going to work!" The bolt was a bit hard to close on my first round, but the rifle continued to feed and fire despite the adverse conditions. I was impressed and a happy AI AX owner.

Here's a pic of myself and LongArm on the last day of the match.
