Building a ghillie suit is really easy. You can make it hard an time consuming though if your plan is really elaborate.
Start by getting a pair of oversized BDUs. Preferably desert color ( so you can make it darker if you need to). Buy some netting, preferably 1"-1.75". Attach netting with shoe goo wherever you want it.
Buy some military burlap sandbags either at a surplus store or eBay. I bought 50 bags for $20 on eBay, which is more than enough. Cut the sandbags in strips or you can un-weave it into individual strands. Tie onto netting in various areas trying not to go overboard with it. You want just enough to break up the outline. Vegetation will help blend you into your surrounding. Tie in vegatation by using the burlap.
If you need to add some earth tones to your platform, I like to use the Tactical Consealment dyes in a spray bottle and apply greens to wherever it's needed.
That's pretty much it for the basics. If your going to be crawling around alot, shoe goo some canvas on the chest, elbows, and knees for reinforcement. Some people like to use cordura, but I find that it is a little bit noisy when something brushes against it. And if cordura rips, it usually frays.
Also canvas is cheap and it can be easily dyed, unlike cordura nylon.

Some good basic points, but the OP said he didn't have the time. Besides that, why would you spend $ on burlap sandbag's, live with the hassel of cutting, threading, having burlap get all over the place, dying when you can purcahse burlap or jute thread all ready to go for you at a cheap price.
- Don't use BDU's. If you do, turn them inside out so pockets are inside. Use a jumpsuit / coverall's or even FRACU's instead, that is, if you're stuck on a using 2 piece suit.
- Don't buy burlap sandbag's. It's a waste of time especially considering you said you don't have the time. Purchase jute thread or burlap already cut, threaded and dyed for you at cheap prices.
- If you are crawling a lot (FFP?), spend an extra 10 minutes and add some padding to your suit ie. puss pad before you sew your canvas on etc.
Bottom line; there is no real wrong way to build a suit just as long as it works. I once saw a ghillie suit that was spray painted hunter's orange for deer hunting. A relative said: "Talk about defeating the hole purpose". No, not really...
Just get a cloaking device and forget the ghillie
Happy hunting,
